Philomath is thinking ahead. 👏

Last week, community members gathered to kick off Community Vision 2050, a long-term planning effort focused on what makes Philomath special and how to carry those values forward as the city grows over the next 25 years.

Lindsey Free (Patrick Lumber Manufacturing Office Manager) and Ben Motter (PLM Plant Manager) attended the event and spent the evening sharing perspectives and connecting with others invested in Philomath’s future. 🙌

What if alder could do more? 👇

There’s a common misconception that alder trees don’t grow tall enough to produce longer lengths.

In reality, alder grows quickly and can reach heights well over 80 feet. At Patrick Lumber, we’re producing 16-foot alder, exceeding the lengths many expect to see from this species.

These longer lengths open up new possibilities for distributors and manufacturers across flooring, doors, windows, furniture, and interior applications.

We’re supplying both knotty and clear grades, giving our partners flexibility without compromising consistency or quality.

Product Spotlight: Golden Chinquapin 🌲

Golden Chinquapin is one of the lesser-known hardwoods coming out of the Pacific Northwest, and it brings a lot to the table.

It’s known for its warm tone, subtle grain, and ability to take a finish well, making it a strong option for interior applications like millwork, cabinetry, and architectural details.

As we expand our hardwood cutting, Golden Chinquapin is part of the mix. Working with regional species allows us to support local forests, stay close to the material, and maintain control throughout the process.

We just completed planting Oregon White Oak trees above Timber Hall at our Philomath headquarters.

Supporting Oregon White Oak restoration, close to home. 🙌

A reflection from PLC president Natalie Heacock.

One of the most meaningful parts of 2025 was spending more time in the field and seeing our teams represent our Companies with pride, whether on mill visits, in our mills, or sitting across from customers and partners. Watching our people work firsthand made it clear how much skill, humility, and dedication they bring to every interaction.

This year, we focused on strengthening our core business, improving margin quality, and pushing forward on automation, efficiency, and alignment across our Companies. But what stood out most was watching our culture in action, people solving problems, supporting each other, and showing what humble, hardworking, and team-driven truly looks like.

We're proud of what we built together this year and even more excited for what’s ahead in 2026.

Dinner at Timber Hall was one to remember! 👏

Good food, great company, and a fun wig theme to top it all off.

We spent the evening sharing favorite memories, plenty of laughs, and a deep appreciation for this team and the work we do together.

Trader Thursdays always bring the team together over coffee and lunch, and this one got a little spooky. 👻

Between “Wednesday” leading the company and a full-blown Louvre heist, lunch was anything but ordinary.

Happy Halloween! 🎃

Bringing the whole team together is one of our favorite parts of each quarter.

This meeting focused on our new hardwood mill with a tour of the facility to learn about the species we’ll be processing, including Oregon White Oak, Bigleaf Maple, Tan Oak, Alder, and Golden Chinquapin.

We’re proud of the progress being made and excited for what’s next. 🙌

We are happy to announce we have secured a $1 million Community Wood Grant to help us complete key upgrades at our new hardwood mill. 🙌

This grant accelerates our efforts to boost mill efficiency and expand our capacity to process hardwood species at scale. When fully operational, the mill will produce around 500,000 board feet per month.

This is an investment in forest health, local jobs, and creating new markets for hardwood species in our region.
