A pallet isn’t really finished if someone has to fix it before it can ship.

A system can hit its target rate all day long, but that number doesn’t mean much if finished loads are leaning, cases are shifting, patterns are inconsistent, or operators have to step in and straighten things out.

Those small corrections add up.

Rework slows down the line. Unstable loads can create problems during wrapping, conveying, staging, forklift handling, and transportation. And when it happens repeatedly, what looks like a pallet quality issue quickly becomes a throughput issue too.

That’s why cases per minute only tell part of the story.

A better question is: How many finished pallets leave the cell ready for the next step without anyone having to touch them?

Consistency, load stability, and repeatability matter just as much as speed when you’re looking at the performance of the entire end of the line.

A palletizer can be running normally and still limit the line if product is arriving faster than finished pallets can move out.

Some of the signs are pretty obvious: cases backing up on conveyors, frequent upstream stops, operators waiting on pallet discharge, or actual output falling short of the line’s rated speed.

And the bottleneck isn’t always the palletizer itself. Pallet change time, conveyor accumulation, wrapping, forklift pickup, product mix, and changeovers can all affect how quickly finished product clears the end of the line.

That’s why fixing a bottleneck doesn’t always mean buying a faster machine. It starts with finding out where the delay is actually happening.
