You’ve probably noticed by now this arctic air is behaving badly with the freeze line stuck in Houston all day hours ahead of schedule. Here is our latest forecast for lows tonight. The magenta line is the freeze line and the blue line is the hard freeze line. Play it safe and prepare for a hard freeze, even in Houston. This is the night to protect those pipes in addition to keeping every living thing warm overnight.

WINTER STORM LIKELY TO IMPACT SOUTHEAST TEXAS

We are now declaring ABC13 Weather Alert Days for Tuesday and Wednesday, with the brunt of the winter precipitation falling Monday night and Tuesday. A hard, pipe-bursting freeze in the teens is likely to follow Wednesday morning. Start getting mentally and physically prepared to stay put wherever you go to bed Monday night until at least Wednesday afternoon, possibly longer, because travel may be extremely hazardous, if not impossible.
