What you're looking at is decades of aging infrastructure getting a modern upgrade. 💪 Originally built in the 1930s–40s, Motiva's raw water siphon needed a serious upgrade. Our team played an integral role in engineering the replacement — three massive 42-inch pipelines that will be directional drilled and navigated beneath Highway 73 and other existing infrastructure without ever interrupting normal use. An example of precision engineering happening entirely underground. 🚧 When complete, the new system will move 30,000 gallons of water per minute, a massive upgrade with minimal impact. Proud to be part of this team!

📍Employee Spotlight: Megan Carista

Megan joined our team four years ago as a Survey Drafter and has been bringing precision and attention to detail to every project ever since.

One project she’s especially proud of involved large replats spanning both Houston and Montgomery County, a complex process that required extensive coordination and an incredible amount of detail.

Megan’s favorite part about AWC is the people: “The people and the company itself are very family-oriented. We take care of each other.”

So proud to have Megan on our team!

Last week we had the pleasure of attending AGC's 23rd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. AGC holds this event each year to raise scholarship funds for students pursuing careers in the construction industry. ⛳️⛳️⛳️ Thank you for having us!

We went back to school this week!
Derek & Knox visited Regina Howell Elementary this week to teach Mrs. Graffagnino and Mrs. Zotzky's 5th grade classes about what we do at AWC and how we use civil engineering to help our communities.
This was such a fun experience for us. We answered some really good questions about our work and built structures with spaghetti and marshmallows! It was so encouraging to see these future engineers get creative and curious about our field. We laughed all day and consider ourselves so lucky to have been invited to do this.

We were honored to attend the Jefferson County Commissioners Leadership Breakfast hosted by the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce this week.
It was encouraging to hear a State of the City update from Mayor Charlotte Moses and learn more about the Commissioners’ priorities for strengthening our town. As a firm with deep roots in Port Arthur, it means so much to see continued focus on revitalization efforts that are helping make our community safer, cleaner, and more beautiful. We’re proud to be part of that progress!

A few of us from the office participated in the Tee-Up for Autism Golf Scramble last week! It was a gorgeous day, and so encouraging to see local businesses supporting Garlyn Place. Their mission is to empower adults with developmental disabilities by helping them build community and independence through vocational skills. Thank you for all that you do!

AWC is proud to partner with Warrior Bonfire Program each year to bring Purple Heart Veterans to Lake Sam Rayburn for fishing, camaraderie, BBQ, and the healing that comes with experiencing the great outdoors. It's an honor, and we can't wait for next year.

Our annual Lake Sam Rayburn retreat continues to be one of the most consistently impactful experiences we offer and it's made possible by the seamless coordination of dedicated hosts, fishing guides, and volunteers who make it all feel effortless.

This year, the addition of an extra day created a more relaxed pace, giving our members more time to fish, connect, and recharge without feeling rushed. That extra time led to more success on the water, but also created space for deeper conversations and stronger support among the group.

Across the retreat, the fish were plentiful, bellies were full, and camaraderie proved to be truly medicinal. One attendee shared, “With everything going on in the world right now, veterans need this program more than ever. It works!!!!”

A heartfelt thank you to LBS BBQ for keeping everyone well fed with incredible barbecue, and to Echo Maintenance for providing a crawfish spread that brought everyone together. We’re grateful for this place, these people, and a retreat that continues to feel like home.
