FUN FACT: Pictured below is a super common mushroom to this part of the country - False Turkey Tail (Stereum ostrea). If foraging, you can identify False Turkey Tail by is exceptionally vivid orange/red color and smooth, leathery texture. This mushroom does not possess the medicinal qualities of it's counterpart, the infamous Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor or Coriolus versicolor) we all love.
