Mertz Integration is seeking an experienced Metallurgist and Materials Scientist to join our Engineering team in Ponca City. This role is essential in taking new products from concept to production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing material specifications for both metallic and non-metallic materials, heat treatment, coatings, and related processes.
- Overseeing lab testing, leading failure analysis, and preparing technical reports.
- Writing and overseeing welding procedures while validating new welding and material processes.
- Training and mentoring welders, QA/QC personnel, painters, engineers, and production staff.
- Supporting designers and engineers with material and process selection, as well as vendor validation.
- Auditing and qualifying suppliers and supporting customer quality audits as necessary.
- Assessing material usability, environmental impact, and safety while adhering to all safety regulations.
Must-haves include:
- A BS in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science.
- 5β7+ years of manufacturing or engineering experience, preferably in discrete manufacturing.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. and the ability to pass background checks, drug screens, PFT, and other pre-employment testing.
- Onsite attendance in Ponca City is required (hybrid may be considered), with a willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Strong knowledge of materials science, familiarity with welding processes, lab result interpretation, and proficiency in Excel/ERP (Made2Manage is a plus).
Nice-to-have qualifications include:
- An MS in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering.
- A PE license in Oklahoma.
