1st annual “Bobbers” private fishing tournament was put on by the Gunderson family and friends this past weekend in memory of Bobby Gunderson. Everyone came out a winner in this tournament, including the PVFD as this great group of people decided to donate their winnings in the amount of $3000 to the PVFD presenting the check to Todd Moser is Ryan Gunderson Bob’s son.On behalf of the PVFD we thank you guys! A reminder to the public we are finishing up a couple details on construction and look forward to our open house over the 125 celebration, which will be held in July. We will give more details as it gets closer. Thanks for your support✌🏼

7:50 this evening PVFD and HVFD were paged out 7 miles North of Po***ck to a grass fire. 3 Po***ck units and 2 Herried units responded along with 2 disc operators the fire was knocked down quickly cause of fire was an old garbage pit. With no rain in imediate forecast good reminder to check old pits.🔥👨‍🚒🧑🏽‍🚒🇺🇸🇺🇸🔥🔥🔥🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

PVFD were paged out at aprox 3am due to a grass fire 3.5 miles NW of Po***ck on 1804. Several storms moved through the area with cloud to ground lightning earlier in the night was more than likely the cause of the fire. The South Dakota governors conference on tourism was recently held “Travel South Dakota” in Pierre and one of our very own PVFD members was honored. The award was based on customer service and outstanding hospitality for the upper northern South Dakota Missouri river region.Now if you live in or around Po***ck or ever driven through and happen to stop at Wilbert’s Service you were sure to find Todd and Norma even Tara from the wee hours of the morning too late at night probably finishing somebody’s tire that they needed the next day or boat or some type of project as you would be hard pressed to find a harder working guy in the area for sure. Think everyone would agree this award was long overdue. PVFD is lucky to have Todd as our Sec/Treas and personally Todd , Kent Meyer and Frosty are pretty much the reason I took over as acting Fire Chief guys like them don’t come around often and we built a pretty dam good team for our little town! So from the rest of the PVFD crew and im sure the whole town hell the county Thanks Todd your loyalty to the Fire Dept and your customers does not go unnoticed!👨‍🚒👩‍🚒👨‍🚒🔥🔥🔥🔥🚜🚜🚗🚗🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Recap of PVFD annual fundraiser. First off thank you to everybody that donated and just as importantly to everyone that came out just to eat and take in a great night of entertainment. Our department would not be where it is at today without your generosity and continuing support! At approximately 3:42 this afternoon PVFD responded to A brush/Shoreline fire considering the extreme conditions and the rugged terrain involved these guys knocked it out of the park in just a little over two hours! Campers fisherman, etc. etc. are all reminded be mindful of your open campfires even though there is no burn ban on just use common sense! Hoping everybody enjoys their 4th of July weekend from everybody at the Po***ck fire department! 🔥💥🧨🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Aprox 3 pm PVFD provided mutual aid to Selby fire along with mobridge, Glenham ,Akaka, Bowdle Mound city, Herried Trail city, Java along with South Dakota Highway Patrol Campbell County sheriffs office Walworth county sheriffs office several farmers ranchers with farm equipment and tankers of water. No injuries were reported at this time. No structures lost no cattle lost for a serious fire under these conditions a job well done by all ! Fire will be monitored throughout the night for any flareups or hotspots! Hell of job by everyone involved today!
