When you’re pushing a Nissan GT-R to its limits on the drag strip, cylinder sealing becomes critical.
This customer has been battling detonation and engine reliability issues with his high-horsepower GT-R. To improve combustion sealing under extreme cylinder pressures, we went with our Fire Collar machining process.
Why a Fire Collar instead of a traditional Fire Ring?
Unlike traditional fire rings, our Fire Collar system uses machined grooves in both the cylinder head and engine block. A fitted collar engages both grooves, creating a mechanical combustion seal designed to withstand extreme cylinder pressures and reduce head gasket failure.
This setup provides added sealing support in high-boost applications where cylinder pressure and head lift become major concerns.
Fire Collars won’t prevent detonation, but they help maintain combustion sealing when cylinder pressures push conventional gasket setups beyond their limits.
Extreme boost demands extreme sealing.
