Engineering Services:
Here at CalEngS, we offer a vast amount of engineering services. Short circuit & coordination studies is a service in which we conduct a study of your electrical distribution system. From that study, we will recommend the most economical devices and settings for your facility. We can update your system drawings, which can and will have a positive effect on how you run operat
ions. This update can help you by avoiding costly mistakes, improve safety and lock-out/tag-out procedures. We also offer load flow studies. A load flow study is where our technicians study your facility to improve system efficiency, performance as well as reducing the cost of power. These types of load flow studies include: reliability studies, stability studies, grounding studies, switching/transient studies, cable/Ampacity studies and harmonic analysis. Transmission Lines:
CalEngS design engineers have over 20+ years of transmission line design experience and possess the skills and experience necessary for any overhead or underground transmission line project. CalEngS' design Engineers have completed hundreds of transmission related line projects for various utilities throughout the USA, Central America and the Caribbean. These projects typically range in nominal voltage from 46-kV through 500-kV transmission lines. CalEngS is highly qualified to meet any challenge from conceptual design studies through final engineering, design, and project management services. CalEngS' highly qualified and experienced staff of engineers & designers coupled with our unique strategic teaming agreement and our utilization of specialized transmission line software (PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower & PLS-POLE), will allow us to provide a full range of services extending from beginning to end for various transmission line projects. Our staff can work with your current design specifications or create completely new standards based on the project requirements. Once the standard for design is determined, CalEngS' design staff will model structures and perform a complete 3D analysis using the PLS software package. The deliverables for any PSE transmission line design include:
Plan and profile drawings
Construction staking sheets
Structure assembly drawings
Conductor sag and tension tables
Material specifications
Design book with supporting calculations, including: Span limitations based on required ground clearance, structure strength calculations (maximum wind and weight spans), conductor, insulator, and hardware strength calculations, conductor gallop analysis, and analysis of guyed and un-guyed structures
CalEngS performs transmission design that is compliant with ANSI, IEEE, GO95, NESC, RUS, and other applicable or project-specific standards. Our unique base of expertise along with our past experience and familiarity with transmission line industry practices and transmission line standards, will allow us to efficiently provide a wide range of services for transmission line projects. Reliability & Maintenance:
When operating a facility, there is always going to be some type of repair to be done. What we can offer you is a very well-designed maintenance program. With our program, you experience increased equipment, uptime, improved safety, reduced operating/replacement costs and the ability to avoid unexpected failures. At CalEngS, we can structure a maintenance program to help you satisfy the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), the General order 95 (G.O.95) and the IEEE requirements and the manufacturer's recommendations. We provide predictive and preventive maintenance testing. These tests enhance the overall safety & reliability of your power system. Why CalEngS Benefits You:
