Norstan, Inc. is a job shop manufacturer with over 37 years experience meeting our customers demanding specifications

From a high-tech standpoint, Norstan, Inc. We constantly upgrade

our equipment and spend effort, time and money on research and development to seek even better solutions for our strategic partners. One example of innovation in action is our ability to take parts that were previously made from screw machines and converts them to our cold heading process. This technological advance affords many advantages. It strengthens the rivet through cold heading, while reducing lead-times, improving quality and saving you money. We are also working with innovative, high-tech, monitoring equipment with the capability of shutting down a process or notifying us when the first part does not meet specifications. This allows us to make immediate corrections. It also assures less waste, cost and scrap.

Switches and Relays

A switch is defined as a component of an electrical system that establishes, removes, or redirects electrical current by establishing one or more connections in the conductive path within a circuit. Switches may often have numerous contacts that operate in unison, sequentially, or in an alternating fashion. Light switches are perhaps the most common example of a switch, which closes to allow electrical current to flow to the light when on and opens to interrupt the electrical flow and turn the light off. Switches may be operated manually, using a button or lever, or they can operate using pressure, temperature, or sensors to trigger the motion of the switch.

Norstan’s automated precision stamping processes reduce labor costs, especially as production volumes increase. This makes metal stamping a premier choice for small and large volumes of metal parts requiring accurate and cost-effective production methods.

Additionally, many technological advances have been made over the years to enhance the precision of metal stamping operations. For example, 3D design capabilities have sped up the design process, while wire burning of die components has helped to produce quicker manufacturing capabilities and more precise components.

Some of the manufacturing processes we employ include:

Forming – A die and punch bend the material to a predetermined angle.
Coining – Displaces workpiece material through the application of extremely high levels of force.
Embossing – Creates raised or depressed features on sheet metal.
Tapping – Creates threaded holes in a workpiece.
Welding – A method that uses heat to conjoin materials.
