Why did Ignition work so well for our control panel manufacturing?

Because our manufacturing process didn’t fit neatly into off-the-shelf workflows.

Our fabrication team needed better visibility into:
• UL 508A panel production
• Inventory movement
• Scheduling priorities
• Manufacturing throughput

Using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform, our engineers developed a custom solution built around the way our panel manufacturing floor actually operates.

Instead of forcing the process to adapt to the software, the software was designed to support the process.

📊 Over five years, the impact included:
✔️ 225% increase in manufacturing throughput
✔️ 35% improvement in efficiency
✔️ Improved inventory tracking and scheduling

One of the biggest advantages of Ignition was flexibility—it allowed our team to create tools tailored to real manufacturing needs instead of relying on rigid workflows.

Need Better Access to Availability Data on Raw Materials?

When working to improve production output, many manufacturers focus on scheduling, staffing, and throughput—and for good reason.

But one area that often gets less attention is how easily teams can access and act on real-time data on raw material availability.

Even when inventory systems are in place, limited visibility or delayed access to accurate data can lead to reactive decisions that impact production consistency.

Improving inventory visibility can support:
• More reliable production planning
• Fewer material-related disruptions
• Better use of historical data for forecasting
• More informed capacity and expansion decisions

It’s not just about tracking raw materials—it’s about making that information accessible and actionable across your operation.

Where could better access to inventory data improve your process?

CAN YOU HELP US UPGRADE OUR SYSTEM USING IGNITION?

We hear this question a lot from customers looking at options for modernizing their systems.

Yes, we have the expertise and experience to do this type of project. In addition to helping customers with upgrades, we upgraded our own MES.

And yes, we know (and love) Ignition. Inductive Automation’s platform is very popular, especially Perspective — the package that requires no special software on the client end — where you can view and control your production from mobile devices, desktops, or industrial HMI stations.

Upgrades are typically performed in multiple phases, tuned to the extent of the project:

• System audit
• Scope definition
• Development
• Demonstration
• Revision
• Training
• Deployment
• Production support

Each phase can be repeated for successive upgrades.

If you're considering an upgrade, we’re happy to share what works — and what to avoid.

Are you keeping up with preventive maintenance on your ABB drives?

The following ABB-recommended checklist should be performed annually:
1. Drive inspection
2. Heatsink maintenance
3. Connection & environment check
4. Power supply quality check
5. Spare parts inventory review

Below are the component replacement guidelines:
• Filters – every 3 months
• Cooling fans – every 3 years
• Battery – every 9 years
• Safety component – tested at your interval

If your drive is mission-critical, do you have a spare?

Don’t delay. Protect your investment by keeping up with the maintenance.

If you need help, give us a call. Our VFD experts follow ABB guidelines to help you stay ahead of problems and minimize downtime.
