Did you know that there are different types of LiDAR? Some forms, like topographic LiDAR, use a near-infrared light to navigate complex land environments. Others, like bathymetric LiDAR are better suited to navigate the depths of seafloors and riverbeds.

LIDAR — Light Detection and Ranging — is a remote sensing method used to examine the surface of the Earth.

Do you know the difference between 2D and 3D LiDAR? On paper, it's only a change in one number. In the real world, it translates to a superior localization and navigation system. The FX250 receives information on all 3 axes via its 3D LiDAR. This means, no matter the area or location, the FX250 will always be able to find its way.

The FX250 shoots - and it scores! It's officially March Madness, and to keep those courts pristine, an autonomous robot needs superior localization and navigational skills. We recently put the FX250 up to the test of cleaning the keys of the Petersen Event Center during the Pitt Panthers men's basketball season.

Learn all about the challenges of cleaning a basketball court in our latest blog post.

At Discovery Robotics we’re excited for March Madness! At this point, you might be wondering what autonomous robots and basketball have in common. Well, if you didn’t know, basketball courts are notoriously hard to clean with robotic equipment. It’s like … Read More

Does hump day find you in a haze? Even robots find themselves in a "stuck robot" condition from time to time. This usually requires an operator to come rescue and reset the unit. When it comes to the FX250, our robot has a host of recover behaviors that make it truly autonomous in these situations - including an automatic backup feature.
