Operating Engineers Local 66, located in the RIDC Park in Pittsburgh, PA, is affiliated with the International Union of Operating Engineers. Our jurisdiction covers the following counties in Western PA: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, J
efferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Potter, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington and Westmoreland; as well as Columbiana, Mahoning & Trumbull counties in Ohio. Our equipment operators are skilled on the following types of equipment: Rubber Tire Backhoe, Rubber Tire Front End Loader, Skid Steer, Excavator, Bulldozer, Scraper (pan), Road Grader, Concrete Paving Machine, Asphalt Paving Machine, Asphalt Rollers, Mobile Hydraulic Cranes, Crawler Cranes, Tower Cranes, Pile Driving Cranes and Boom Trucks. Local 66 provides seven dispatch offices located within the counties above, and each office is prepared to supply manpower in a day’s notice. Having highly professional personnel provided to a site is an advantage to the contractor, saving time and money by avoiding the application/interview process. Some of the industries we have served are highway, industrial facilities, bridges & dams, cross country pipeline, airports, utilities (water, sewer, gas), power plants, housing (residential), and buildings. Local 66 not only provides and represents Equipment Operators, but we also cover Shop Agreements (agreements that are unique and specific for each company) for various companies such as steel mills, power plants, limestone and gravel quarries, concrete and asphalt plants, refuse handling facilities, as well as many local governments (townships, city, boroughs, and authorities). Local 66 also provides the best trained and most capable work force through our Joint Apprentice and Training Program, located at our 137 acre site in New Alexandria, PA. There are two apprenticeship courses; Heavy Equipment Operator and Heavy Equipment Mechanic Technician. Each course is 4 years in length and combines training at the site as well as actual on-the-job training.
