The sector adds $3 trillion to the economy every year, and right now there are 580,000 open jobs. The presses and mixers we build here in Piqua end up in aerospace, defense, rubber, and food processing plants around the world.

October is Manufacturing Month. The Ohio Manufacturers' Association put together a short film on what manufacturing means to this state, and it's worth your time. French Oil has been building hydraulic presses, rubber mixers, and oilseed equipment in Piqua since 1900. We're one of roughly 13,300 manufacturers across Ohio, part of the reason the state ranks third in the country for manufacturing jobs.

Today is Manufacturing Day, when manufacturers across Ohio open their doors to students. At French Oil in Piqua, we welcome school groups throughout the year.

Students walk through our machine shop and assembly floor, watch a cobot load a machining center, and talk with the machinists who run the equipment. Then they see where those parts go: into hydraulic presses, screw presses, and rubber mixers designed, built, and tested here before they ship.
The students in these photos joined us for one of those visits. We want every group to leave knowing that a career in manufacturing is a real option close to home, and that the people doing this work are proud to show what it takes.

The title block in this photo is dated January 28, 1930, hand lettered by a draftsman who signed R.L.W. It's not a museum piece. It's a working file. One of our customers runs a 500-ton French press built in 1942; when its top plunger needed replacing, we machined a redesigned one from the original drawings, still on file in Piqua. French supplies OEM parts, rebuilds, retrofits, and field service for French and TMP presses, screw presses, and mixers, and TMP rebuilds mixers of nearly any brand or size. A 64" x 64" pressing surface and 2,200 tons of clamp force. French built these sideplate presses for high-tonnage rubber compression molding, with steam heated platens and Allen Bradley touchscreen controls.
