y tourist attractions, Iron Mountain offers a family entertainment experience that leaves visitors with a custom knife crafted under the careful supervision of an experienced blacksmith. With lessons on knife manufacturing, visitors can learn the forging process to create knives from nails, horseshoes, pony shoes, or railroad spikes. Appointments for lessons are required, and some have age requirements, so be sure to call the showroom to schedule your experience in advance.

The photos that you will see posted this month are from our FTL event on Turtle Island. The event is called FLT Day on Turtle Island with Eustace Conway. FLT stands for Families Learning Together. It is our major fundraiser to support the summer camps held at Turtle Island Preserve. Visitors can explore the preserve and see the different classes offered. I volunteer there, and instead of receiving a teaching fee, my payment is used to fund scholarships for children who otherwise couldn’t attend. Iron Mountain Metal Craft sponsors several of those kids.

Forge a custom knife made from a railroad spike in this hands-on knife manufacturing lesson. Minimum age for this is 13. We may require previous blacksmithing experience if you are under the age of 18.  All in all a very special experience.
