Here is a set of brass bolts I machined and finished to replicate the original 100+ year old hardware for a set of original doors at University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.
Machined from 1” hexagonal brass bar stock and the sanded to give it the “umbrella” shape on the heads. Next everything was polished with scotchbrite pads and then brass polishing compound. I replicated the hammered finish using a hammer and custom ground punch. After a good cleaning and degreasing the parts were aged with a browning solution to age them and match the original patina as closely as possible.
