While building disruptive laser surgical devices is our primary mission, we also make critical components for other companies (even our competitors). We offer design services or will work from your drawings to make fused quartz components of the highest precision and accuracy. These side fire fiber caps are made under patent and are 2.150 mm in diameter (with a laser turned step at 1.750 mm) and are 13 mm long. A lens carrying prism is fused inside the bore where the prism is 1.185 mm diameter, and the lens has a radius of curvature of 1.850 mm.

You may also note the vent hole on the stepped-down OD...it's 0.250 mm in diameter and located at the center of the 5.00 mm long step, the free end of which is chamfered at 45 degrees. And speaking of angles, the prism TIR face is 40 degrees.

Public Service: If you’re not familiar with the “WayBackMachine” it’s an internet archive that samples websites periodically, typically if a change is detected by the spiders, and it stores at least the opening page of the URL, theoretically indefinitely. Its at www.webarchive.com and it’s free.

This is the first page of my company website from the year we were acquired by Laserscope, and they were acquired 30 days later by American Medical Systems and they were acquired by Endo Pharmaceutical a couple of years later and then the part of the old AMS where we were was bought by Boston Scientific. That’s how Boston Scientific got my fiber designs and the patents from the past, now starting to expire.

One of my last fiber designs in that collection has generated sales of around $1B and will probably pass that three comma threshold before I kill it off with my newer, better designs. ;-) Wish me success…
