ACTION ALERT

Grassroots Action to Support House Passage of the Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill

ACEC member action is needed to support House passage of H.R. 8870, the BUILD America 250 Act, bipartisan legislation to reauthorize expiring surface transportation programs.

Contact Your Representative - https://acec.action.aristotle.com/alert/391a40f5-addb-4ffe-9af6-c2cf8a678444

The five-year bill authorizes a total of $580 billion through Fiscal Year 2031, including $375 billion for roads and bridges and $87 billion for transit programs out of the Highway Trust Fund. Every state will see a 3.4% increase in their formula funding compared to current law. The bill also features a number of ACEC priorities, including support for State DOTs to utilize lump sum contracts for engineering services; project delivery reforms; and, grant funding for technology advancements.

Members of Congress need to hear from engineering firms in their districts that passage of this bill should be a priority before current federal transportation programs expire at the end of September.

Arizona holds some of the most celebrated stretches of Historic Route 66 in existence β€” from Kingman to Holbrook, from Seligman to Winslow.

But Route 66 isn't just nostalgia. It's a testament to what American engineers, planners, and builders made possible: 2,448 miles of connection. Communities linked. Commerce enabled. A nation unified on asphalt.

At the 2026 Arizona Conference on Roads & Streets, we honor that heritage while charting the road ahead for Arizona's transportation infrastructure.

Next stop: Tucson, September 23–25.
