When he's not leading REP's structural repair division team, Jeremy's passion is to take the lead in off road desert and rock crawling races. This year, Jeremy, crew, and family will participate in the 2024 King of the Hammers race. Jeremey isn't the only family member you will find on the racetrack. His grade-school son and daughter, Braden and Raelee, are also avid race fans and compete in the junior division. Everyone at Robert Porter Construction is routing for them.

The King of the Hammers is an off-road race that combines desert racing and rock crawling. It takes place in February at Means Dry Lake in Johnson Valley, California. The race is named after the famous trails known as Sledge Hammer, Jack Hammer, and Claw Hammer. The King of the Hammers started in 2007 as a single race between 12 people. Today, it has evolved into a 14-day schedule of off-road races, concerts, a vendor show, and entertainment for all ages. In 2023, the race had more than 1,000 competitors, 80,000 in-person spectators, and nearly three million online viewers.

Trinity Capital Investments tenant improvement project.
Trinity Capital Investments secured occupancy of the entire 3rd floor within the prominent 1 N First Street Building, strategically situated in downtown Phoenix, for the establishment of their corporate headquarters. This sprawling 16,000 square foot space, initially in shell condition, became the canvas for the collaborative efforts of DeBartolo Architects and Robert Porter Construction, who were engaged to envision and execute tenant improvements. The project's ex*****on necessitated working during off-hours to ensure minimal disruption to the existing occupants of the high-rise office building. The outcome of this endeavor is a contemporary, open-concept design, accentuated by ingenious wood slat carpentry that serves as a central design motif.

Built during the 1960s, Valley Presbyterian Church (VPC) has maintained its mid-century modern aesthetic over the years. Recently, the church embarked on a journey to modernize its sanctuary, revamp the chancel and stage area, and bring the audio-visual system up to date. Beyond these enhancements, we undertook various campus-wide interior improvements, including upgrading balcony seating and adding classrooms. A special acknowledgment goes to Jones Studio Architecture for their outstanding partnership. They worked closely with us, aligning with the project's timeline and budget, and navigating through its intricacies. To provide a visual insight into the transformation, here are some before-and-after snapshots of the undertaken work.

Robert Porter Construction recently completed a 19,500 SF state-of-the-art gymnasium at Haven Church in Glendale. This remarkable freestanding structure constitutes a pivotal phase within the campus expansion plan. Orchestrated by DeBartolo Architects, the design showcases the use of structural steel, a sleek metal panel facade, and an ingenious translucent panel system, facilitating the infusion of natural light into the building's interior.

A couple of years ago I visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. I found one of the most interesting features of the museum to be the Slurry Wall exhibit. To add some perspective, the museum is built at the original World Trade Center site in the excavated basement foundation. It’s a truly impressive design in many ways. The memorial incorporates structural elements that endured the collapse into its design. Perimeter areas of concrete and steel foundation elements lie in their original location and serve not only as exhibit displays, but also create an open space and pathway for visitor’s to wander throughout the memorial. One might breeze past the slurry wall and not think to give it the same respect as other exhibits in the memorial, but to me this wall represented more than a large pour of concrete.

Air Guitar is opening in Gilbert, offering grab-and-go meals, a full service coffee bar, ice cream, and more. FOX 10's Renee Nelson reports.
