History

Stiners Compressor and Supply has been meeting all your compressed air needs since May of 1979. Since Day one in business Bud Stiner the founder and owner to this day has always provided a combination of Service, Price and Quality. In the early days of the business SCS primarily worked in the coal industry taking care of the Quincy compressors on every dragline that were ubiquitous in cen

tral Pa. as the coal industry has changed over the years SCS focus has broadened to supplying compressed air products to many sectors of business, such as the body shops, light industry, car washes, mechanic shops, field machinist, tombstone cutters and many more. Reading the list of the types of business that SCS now services our motto became “I think everybody in America should own an air compressor” in the mid 1980s SCS began selling air tools and that is a large part of the business to this day. SCS also can size, design and build a natural gas compressor for boosting production on gas wells. To accomplish that I follow 2 rules when I have my salesman hat on
1 if you can’t make money with a product I sell, you don’t need it
2 if you can’t save time with a product I sell, you don’t need it. Because I don’t push stuff on you you don’t need we conduct our business relationship more like a friendship. Being a small shop I have to set priorities with my time. If you are broke down and not working due to something I can help with that is top priority. If there is a warrantee problem that comes second this may coincide with the top priority. What we need to do is to keep you making money! Last is sales and regularly scheduled maintenance. My own personal philosophy is Keep God first, work hard, play hard and never stop learning. FAQ

Q,How often should I change oil in my compressor? A, with regular oil every 500 hrs or 3 months in a commercial application. With Synthetic oil every 2000 hrs or once a year (if this is a screw compressor you may want to take oil sample and see if you need to change oil)
Q,How often should I change filters? A, Air filters every 3 months or more often depending on application of compressor , example saw mills usually require changing filters much more often. Q, My compressor seems to take a long time to pump up is there anything I can check? A, Yes often a slow compressor is because the belts are loose, the belts should be about as tight as an alternator belt on a car ( about half of my service calls are for loose belts) the B answer is make sure your air filter is clean a clogged air filter will choke the compressors production. Q, I am looking for a new compressor for my shop how big of a machine do I need? A, the short answer is call me and I will help you evaluate your air needs and consumption. Another answer is for a body shop figure 2+ HP per man. In a mechanic shop figure 1+ hp per man. For industrial applications add up your CFM requirements for all machines that may run at the same time and take that total and multiply it by 1.33 for your minimum CFM ( Cubic Feet per Minute) and Pressure requirement and then call me and we will help you from there. Q, What are your service rates? A, for repair work done in my shop we are at $45 an hour. Our road rate is $60 per hr from the time we leave the shop to the time we get back to the shop (some time I can schedule regular maintenance in area and split some travel time with different customers, but that almost never happens for break downs)
Q, I have a 1955 Sears compressor will you work on it? Yes provided you can find parts. There are several old brands that finding parts for can be difficult at best, Sears anything over 3 years old, Campbell Hausfeld, Kellogg American, Worthington, Develbiss, and much of the stuff you may buy at Lowes, Sam's Club and even Tractor Supply. Q what Brands do you handle in Compressors? A, Ingersoll Rand, Quincy, Saylor-Beal, Jenny (Emglo), Champion/Gardner of Denver,
Q, what size and Types of compressors do you sell and work on? A, our specialty is 5-25 HP reciprocal (piston) compressors, I do have the ability to sell you a screw compressor of nearly any size. I can do some work and maintenance on screw compressors but major repairs I subcontract to one of my vendors (BTW we have a great working relationship on these types of situations)
Q, Do you take trade in or have used compressors? A, NO, If I take a compressor on trade it may be working well at the time. I resell it and a week or a month later there is a problem with it there would be no warrantee on a used machine then I would have a customer somewhere between unhappy and angry with the compressor, the deal or with me and or my company. Used compressors are very easy to sell through ad bargains, or craigslist. Q, why should I buy from SCS? A, We sell Industrial grade machines that we can get parts for and service for the foreseeable future. You may be able to save a few dollars buy going to Tractor Supply and buying a commercial grade Ingersoll rand, the issue becomes how long will it last and where can you get it worked on. Commercial duty is basically a homeowners quality and if you are in a business situation your best long term solution is to go with the industrial grade IE you get what you pay for.
