The event raised more than $950,000 to fund life-saving equipment, advanced training, technology, and essential programs for the department. We were honored to stand alongside so many supporters and help recognize the sacrifice and legacy of Sergeant James O’Connor. 💙🇺🇸

Thackray Crane is proud to celebrate Robert “Bob” Thackray on receiving the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #25 in Philadelphia.

Bob’s legacy extends far beyond the crane industry. Through decades of hard work, leadership, and dedication, he helped build Thackray Crane into the family company it is today — a legacy that continues across multiple generations.

Under Bob’s leadership, Thackray Crane has grown into one of the largest continuously family-owned and operated crane rental companies in the region, serving the Philadelphia area since 1947. The company has played a role in countless major projects throughout the region and has been a driving force behind the tri-state area’s commercial and construction growth.

Today, his daughter, Lin M. Thackray, proudly works alongside her father as a third-generation member of the Thackray Crane family. His wife also continues to play an active role within the company, helping carry forward the values and culture that have defined Thackray Crane for decades. Even two of his four grandchildren, Giovanna and Dominic, have worked within the business, continuing the family tradition as fourth-generation Thackrays.

Bringing an icon back to life 🎡

From April 27 – May 6, the Thackray team was on-site at Morey’s Pier in Wildwood, NJ completing Phase 2 of a major Ferris wheel project—reassembling the ride just in time for summer.

After carefully disassembling it in the fall for repairs and repainting, our crew returned to lift and rebuild the entire structure, including the main drum and all spokes, using a Grove RT875E.

Working on a boardwalk pier meant tight quarters, limited space, and zero room for error—but that’s where experience makes the difference.

Even better? The project was completed ahead of schedule.

Our Operations Safety Director, Mark W. Thackray, has been awarded the 2026 Safety Leadership Award from the Mid-Atlantic Construction Safety Council.

Mark was recognized alongside other respected industry leaders—an honor that reflects his lifelong commitment to safety, leadership, and doing the job the right way.

From starting in the field at 14 to now helping lead safety across every project, Mark continues to set the standard for our team and our industry.

Even more special—this legacy continues with the fourth generation, as his daughter now works alongside him in safety.

Thackray Crane recently started the removal of the long-closed Fetters Mill Road Bridge. Utilizing a 360-ton Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 and a 78-foot lifting beam, the crew safely dismantled the structure in full compliance with health and safety standards.

Phase one complete — more progress to come!

Honoring Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr. 🇺🇸

We remember Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr., a dedicated Pennsylvania State Police officer who gave his life in the line of duty.

Since 2010, he served with honor, most recently with Troop J, Embreeville — a respected officer committed to protecting his community.

Thackray Crane was honored to assist in his tribute by providing a crane to display the American flag along the funeral procession route.

Our thoughts are with his wife, daughter, fellow troopers, and loved ones.

Rest easy, Corporal O’Connor. Thank you for your service.
