Every motor has a journey — and this one just completed another successful chapter with our team at GCEMS.
This project involved the full reconditioning of a of a 6.6 kV, 2,250 HP, 450 RPM brushless synchronous motor. The scope included reconditioning the main stator and rotor, exciter stator and rotor, rebuilding the rotating diode wheel assembly, repairing the drive-end lower guide bearing, and installing new RTDs and space heaters. The unit also underwent machining, rotor balancing, static electrical testing, a full-voltage no-load run with vibration and bearing temperature monitoring, and more. Another project completed with precision, quality, and commitment to reliability.

It’s been a while since our last post, but our team at GCEMS has been focused on what we do best: keeping our customers’ equipment running smoothly.
Here’s a look at one of our previous projects — a complete 13.8 kV, 2,600 kW, 1,800 RPM generator rewind that included a diode wheel rebuild, new control system components, balancing, precision machining, static electrical testing, a final test run, and more — all completed by our skilled technicians and engineers with precision and care.
At GCEMS, quality isn’t just a standard. It’s part of who we are and a reflection of the trust our customers place in us.
Stay tuned for more projects as we continue to share the work we do and the team that makes it happen.

This rotor, brought to our shop for rewinding, revealed signs of extensive damage and heating near the pole winding support bridges. Undertaking this project was particularly special, marking our inaugural use of a turning winding table to enhance the efficiency of the rewinding process. Through seamless collaboration among our skilled machinists, mechanics, and engineering department, we not only successfully implemented the turning table but also meticulously designed and built a control panel. This panel is now poised and ready for our winders to continue with the rotor rewinding process.
At GCEMS, our commitment to excellence in the electric motor industry is unwavering. We firmly believe that, through leadership, innovation, and creativity, we can consistently deliver outstanding services.
