3 Reason is the coolest Boat restoration project you’ve seen
1. The boat itself is full of history. Originally named Duracell, it was built by the legendary Mike Plant as a 60-foot racing machine that once held the American record for solo circumnavigation.
2. Most people would pick an easier project that required some glasswork and paint and call it a day. Matt and Janneke - they are doing a full soup to nuts restoration that requires redesigning the cockpit, using advanced composites to rebuild the interior, and more.
3. The project is ditching the noisy diesel engine for a cutting-edge electric propulsion system. By integrating Solid State Marine batteries, Matt is proving that you can have a 60ft sailboat that is fast and uses alternative power - two things that traditionally did not go together in the marine conversation.
Drop these guys a follow! They have a pretty sweet project
