Position Summary
Under general direction procures, coordinates, oversees and monitors inventory of manufacturing and repair materials of Pasco Machine’s fabrication and pump shop departments.
Essential Duties
• Supervises the performance of Sweepers and Parts Runners (supervision includes training, performance coaching, work assignment and review, performance appraisal, hiring & termination responsibilities & promotional and pay rate change decisions with GM approval).
• Supervises the toolroom attendant.
• Identify, select and coordinate with vendors the purchase of materials and parts concerning machine & pump shops - at the discretion of machine and pump shop supervisors and salesmen.
• Negotiates and communicates with vendors to include but not limited to pricing, service, material quality, delivery targets, and resolve discrepancies and other related procurement issues that may arise.
• Provide information to other Pasco Machine personnel concerning product availability, quality or description.
• Communicate any supply chain problems which may impact manufacturing and / or repairs.
• Act as the liaison between vendors and relevant Pasco Machine departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
• Monitor procurement activities and advise company management on any issue(s) which present risk or opportunity.
• Establish new accounts with vendors as needed.
• Write Purchase and Work Orders as required and ensure appropriate general ledger (GL) codes are applied.
• Develop and maintain hard copy and electronic records to include but not limited to work orders, purchase orders, vendor documentation and other related information.
• Communicate professionally daily: verbal, telephone, electronic and written communication with customers, co-workers and vendors.
• Manage the pump repair process by organizing and maintaining a repair calendar and communicates with pump repair staff on timetable of repairs for on time delivery.
• Quote small pumps and scope of supply for customers.
• Ensure billing for small pumps is completed in a timely manner and is accurate.
• Design and order all Pasco machine merchandise (winter/spring.)
• Receive and confirm purchase orders from customers, deliver po’s to salesman.
• Pasco machine social media (Facebook and Instagram) take photos and post them once a week.
• Assist salesman in receiving vendor quotes.
• In coordination with SAW laborer keep inventory stocked both in the shop and the pump rack.
• Take in over the counter work if necessary, write up work order and tag in calendar.
• Assist in the shipping and receiving of parts and materials as needed
• Operate a variety of office equipment including personal computer, printer, calculator, facsimile, and copier; operate a vehicle to conduct work as required or necessary.
• Keep work area neat and clean and perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or its equivalent (G.E.D.) and three (3) or more years of increasingly responsible office experience in purchasing/buying environment; previous lead or supervisory experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience to provide enough evidence of the successful performance of the essential elements of the job such as those listed above. Must pass a criminal background investigation.
Requires Licenses/Endorsements/Certifications
Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Driving Abstract to be submitted with application for employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must have basic working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite to include, Excel. Strong customer service, problem solving and communication skills. Ability to be a self-starter and self-motivated. A team player that can work well with coworkers and leads by example.
Physical Requirements
To perform the essential functions of the job, a Purchasing Agent must be able to perform the following:
Manual dexterity, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to a 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Position may require working outside of office such as in a warehouse and shop environment or in the yard while receiving freight and verifying inventory.
