All scrubbers, be them a jet venturi, high energy venturi or packed tower, will need their spray nozzles replaced periodically. How frequently replacement is needed depends on the nature of the fluid. [...]
Given that our nozzles are made to order, it is better to have a set on hand, rather than wait until right before a scheduled shutdown. A spare set of gaskets is also advisable, in order to ensure that the equipment seals correctly when it is reassembled. [...]
For high energy systems and packed towers, as well as jet / separator tank systems, the mist eliminator element will also need periodic replacement.

CR Clean Air’s Jet-Venturi Scrubber is one of the most economical answers to the growing problem of air pollution. It is an efficient means for minimizing smoke and undesirable odors, cleaning and purifying air and other gases as well as reclaiming valuable products which may be exhausted to the atmosphere. This complete line of countercurrent packed tower type scrubbers lets you select the most efficient unit for your air pollution control problems. The basic design of the unit channels the gas flow upwards through a packed bed while the scrubbing liquid flows downward by gravity over the packing. This method is well suited to high efficiency gas absorption but is not recommended for use on dust collection applications.

In addition to air pollution applications, it can also be adapted to process needs. The internal components of the tower consist of a packing support plate, a packing bed, a liquid distributor, and a mist eliminator (see Figure A). The tower can be designed for oncethrough operation, or to recycle the liquid, depending upon process conditions.

, , , Incineration Industry: Scrubber on Sludge Incinerator Reduces Atmospheric Emissions. Case Study on Aberdeen Sewage Treatment Plant in Aberdeen, Washington.
[...] The sewage sludge incinerator, product of Shirco, Inc., needed a pollution control device in order to meet state, local and federal requirements for atmospheric emissions
[...] Chosen was a Model 24×24- 48HET-2S venturi scrubber.

Results of the particulate emission test after using the scrubber showed actual stack emission to be 0.21 lb/ ton averaged over 3 runs. Actual scrubber efficiency was 98.7 percent. The plume opacity as determined by an observer qualified by the State of Washington was under 5 percent.

Case Study: FMC adapted a 'good neighbor' policy when it installed a specialized, countercurrent packed tower scrubber into its seaweed extraction process system. The tower recovers isopropyl alcohol from the company's process, thereby reducing pollutant emissions at the Rockland, Maine facility.

The specialized unit handles variable gas flow at a rate of 1400 CFM, where alcohol process vapors are collected from the air stream. Solvent vapors are concentrated to such a level that they can be readily absorbed and recovered.

the advantages of this system make it desirable for many types of air pollution control applications. These include minimum maintenance requirements, low pressure drop and ease of installation. In addition, this type of packed tower scrubber can be designed for any particular efficiency desired. Based upon actual test data and results from the installation, the manufacturer can select the type of packing, scrubbing liquid, and tower size best suited to an application. Since these units are custom designed for each application, any desired efficiency can be obtained at the lowest initial cost.

The packed towers are available in many construction materials. This particular unit is fabricated from type "304" stainless steel to prevent corrosion and avoid any potential fire hazard present with fiberglass. The internal packing and supports are of polypropylene construction for good corrosion resistance and minimum maintenance.

"The gas stream containing the coal tars are usually hot, moist, and difficult to handle due to the “sticky” nature of the coal tars.
