ReadiJet® and ReadiDiesel.® are ready to use, without blending, in turbine and diesel engines designed to operate on petroleum-based fuels. The low-cost CH conversion process uses water to reduce hydrogen consumption, catalyst consumption, and carbon footprint relative to other alternative fuel conversion processes such as Fischer-Tropsch (FT) and Hydrotreated Renewable Jet (HRJ). onverts any non-edible oil (triglyceride) directly into high-density aromatic, cycloparaffin, and isoparaffin hydrocarbons that are ideal for drop-in jet (JP-5, JP-8 and Jet A) and diesel (ASTM D 975 and F-76 Naval Distillate) fuels.

This unit is the next generation in the pretreatment of fat, oil, and grease (FOG) feedstocks, offering a simple, refinery-friendly process with the capability to clean up the most challenging feedstocks for further conversion to renewable fuels.

HCU Pretreat is ARA's patented pretreatment process that uses common refinery equipment and water, heat, pressure, and turbulent flow to remove metals and other inorganics from most common fat, oil, and grease feedstocks. It is a continuous, single-step process that preserves nearly 100% of the organic portion of the feedstock and does not require any additional equipment modifications for highly-contaminated feedstocks. It has been successfully demonstrated on many challenging feedstocks, including Distiller's Corn Oil, Used Cooking Oil, Animal Fats, Non-degummed and Crude Degummed Seed Oils, Brown Grease, Soapstock, Fatty Acid Distillate, Phosphatide Gums, and Algal Oils.

There are three commercial units under construction that will be starting up in 2023. More units are in engineering.

Chevron Lummus Global (CLG) and Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) are pleased to announce the successful startup of euglena Co., Ltd. (euglena Co.)'s integrated Biofuels ISOCONVERSION unit in Yokohama, Japan.

The 5 BPD, first-of-its-kind demonstration unit, employs the Biofuels ISOCONVERSION technology, jointly developed by CLG and ARA, to produce renewable jet fuel and renewable diesel out of an algae oil blend and waste vegetable oil. euglena Co. has successfully started up the demo-unit in 2020, and its renewable diesel products have met all specifications of a Japanese standard of diesel fuel “JIS K2204”. They have started supplying a renewable diesel to local bus services for passenger transportation in Japan. euglena Co. also plans to produce a renewable jet fuel that meets the ASTM D7566 Annex 6 specifications and supply it to commercial flights in Japan.

ARA engineers have received an EU patent for their High Rate Reactor technology which incorporates supercritical water, high fluid velocity, high heat exchange rates, turbulent flow, and short residence time to upgrade organic feedstocks into crude oils.

ARA was recently awarded a US Patent for our Hydrothermal Cleanup process. This process removes metals and other inorganic impurities, while performing acidulation and degumming steps, all in less than 2 minutes of residence time. Congratulations team!

US Navy T700 engine endurance testing is underway with ARA's ReadiJet renewable fuel as it continues toward MILSPEC certification as a 100% drop-in renewable jet fuel. MILSPEC certification of ReadiJet and our ReadiDiesel marine diesel fuel is anticipated in 2018.
