Palestine Home & Hardware Co.

09/28/2026

Friends, several of you are interested in bricks from this pile. If you would like a couple as souvenirs or a truckload for a project, please come see us in the store or call/text our store manager Caden at (217) 205-9572. We will let you know when it’s safe to get some. It is NOT SAFE to be on the demo site right now so thanks for being patient.

Palestine Home & Hardware is open for business again across the road in the new store!

09/25/2026

We are open for business! No, it's not all restocked yet... the decorating isn't quite finished and we're still learning where everything lives, but we are ready to help you with your hardware needs. If we don't have it, please add it to our shopping list over by the bird feeders - it'll really help us!
Thank you to everyone that came to our unique store opening - sawzalling a 2x4 just seemed more appropriate than scissors and ribbon. We appreciate your encouraging words so much. 🪚

Thanks for the nice article Randy Harrison - glad you could join us.

The old Palestine Home and Hardware building is scheduled for demolition this week. Owner Penny Shaw explained the structure, which is at least 116 years old, is too far gone

🔨 WE’RE ALMOST READY! 🔨

The shelves are still being stocked, and we’re waiting on some last-minute inventory, but we are ready to open our doors tomorrow.

🎉 GRAND OPENING FRIDAY Sept 25th AT 9:30AM! 🎉

We’re working hard to get everything ready and can’t wait to welcome everyone into our new location.

🔨 WELL… ABOUT THAT OPENING DATE. 🔨

Apparently, moving an entire hardware store into a 125-year-old building is a little more complicated than we thought. 😅

Between construction surprises, deliveries, and moving approximately 6 billion tiny hardware items, we’re going to have to delay our opening a little longer.

We could rush it—but we’d rather do it right.

Thanks for your patience, and your encouragement ♥

A big thank you to everyone who drank a toast to farewell the building tonight.
Our team has been tirelessly working on moving to the new location however we are still waiting on some critical infrastructure, including WiFi to be able to re-open. So please delay your plans to visit until Friday.
Thanks for sharing both on Facebook and via word-of-mouth to those not on FB!
See you Friday!

TUESDAY SEPT 15: A TOAST TO THE BUILDING

After so many years of memories and stories within these walls, we’re taking one evening to pause and celebrate the historic building that has been such a special part of our community.

We invite you to join us as we honor the building and begin our next chapter. This isn’t just about a building, it’s about the people, memories, and moments that have filled it over the years.

Come raise a glass with us, share a story, play a hand, and help us celebrate the place we’ve called home. We hope to see you there! ❤

PLEASE NOTE: We will be closed Monday and Tuesday to finish moving into our new home, and plan to open Wednesday morning.

🔨 50-75% OFF SALE - TWO DAYS ONLY🔐
We are nearly finished moving into our new location across the road and should be ready to open next week (stay tuned for details), but we still have some inventory that won't quite fit. Sn**ch up some great deals tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday.
Also, we have decided to allow bidding on some of our vintage items that decorate the store. If there's something that you've always had your eye on, this is your chance to make us an offer. Offers will be considered on Thursday night and you need to be ready to collect them by Friday.
Thank you for sharing this post with people who might be interested.
