Easy setup to touch of small run of parts that may have a slight variance in size that might make them be off a skosh

Switching to the manual mill to tap holes that won't fit in the cnc.

Awkward or hard to reach spots where tilting the head at 90° makes sense to do in the manual mill, small taps always makes you nervous so using a spring loaded tap guide makes life less stressful than trying to run the in the machine or just by eye.

Trying to stand in front of a fan this week running some short runs of drill tap parts. In about 40 seconds we face, drill, countersink, tap, and then part off. With a 4ft piece of steel we just keep bar pulling until we run out of material and set it on a loop counter.

Once the setup is done its pretty gravy other than the machine is putting off a ton of heat around 120° when its already over 95° in the shop. 🥵

Having the machine run on 25 min cycles give us the availability to walk away and multitask!

From 3D model, to 3D-printed proof of concept, to the finished product. 🛠️🏎️

​A few local kart racers came to us looking for a solution to simplify and cut weight on an engine mount, all while retaining full adjustability.
​By 3D printing the initial prototype, we verified all clearances and fitment before throwing a single piece of metal in the machine. This saved time and material costs, eliminating the risk of multiple setups and manual re-work if a dimension needed tweaking.

​Utilizing McMaster-Carr hardware directly inside our 3D CAD assembly also meant we knew exactly which fasteners fit perfectly before placing the order.

Instead of having to machine a slug to fit the inside bore like a traditional broach using a press; we have a program for easy setup and adjust step over for bore sizes. Less than 2 min to broach with flood coolant and no mess! Win win.

Lathe to Mill. 🔄 Check out the progression on these pieces

​Op 1: Turned, threaded, and parted off straight into the catcher on the lathe.

Op 2: Transferred over to the mill where we chamfer milled the face contours on the parts.

Rethinking traditional fabrication! 💡 We recently bypassed the plasma cutter to 3D print these custom plates for a customer.
