Florida Landscape Architects and Engineers:
Please write or call your Florida House representative to ask them to vote NO on proposed HB 607 which would eliminate many state licensing boards, which will be heard in committee soon.

People are protected from harm due to our professional license and oversight by our Board of Landscape Architects. The scope and breadth of HB 607 in so-called de-regulation of licensure and professional boards of many types is appalling and will harm and negatively affect public safety.
Ask your Representative in the House to vote of NO to HB 607 in support our DBPR Board and profession (and protect the public) is imperative.

As a landscape architecture professional, I wrote my Rep to express my strong opposition to HB 607.

This bill would eliminate the professional board and continuing education for landscape architects. This isn't just bureaucracy; it directly impacts the safety and quality of our communities. Landscape architects design critical infrastructure like public parks, trails, and stormwater systems – vital in a state like Florida.

Orange County has adopted Vision 2025 and the Orange Code. Check it out. https://www.orangecountyfl.net/PlanningDevelopment/ComprehensivePlanning/Vision2050.aspx
The code is intended to direct growth to urban areas, create walkable types of development and to protect rural areas.

Instead of a focus on land use and zoning, the code categorizes areas into urban place types or patterns such as rural, suburban, urban and building types such as farms, single family neighborhoods, multi-family neighborhoods, mixed use districts, Main Street urban commercial corridors and dense urban districts.
