XO-Nano Smartfoam

XO-Nano Smartfoam At XO-NANO we make products interactive through sensing Smartfoam. The potential impact is great.

Smartfoam measures impact and pressure through a generated electric response, giving feeling to everyday products such as Beds, shoes, helmets, and even martial arts chest protectors. The mechanics of human movement provide a unique and remarkably revealing window into the human body. Accurate and precise description of human movement can provide invaluable information regarding a wide variety of

issues; e.g., athletic ability, joint health, culture, and even mood. Unlike any other insole that has been manufactured up to this point in time, our insole can accurately and precisely measuring specific characteristics of ground reaction force (GRF; 3D components and center of pressure) that can be used to provide valuable information in countless out-of-lab environments. When connected to an appropriate app and smart phone, or watch, our insole can be used to perform important tasks; e.g., accurately measuring and recording caloric expenditure (obesity is now at epidemic levels in our country and is a major cause of poor health), identifying and then retraining movement patterns that are detrimental to lower-extremity musculoskeletal health (knee osteoarthritis now affects nearly 30 million individuals), or evaluating a training activity that has been designed to improve athletic performance via the increase of vertical and/or horizontal GRF (there is now tremendous demand for technology that can provide a competitive edge in various athletic pursuits).

We’re excited to share that XO-NANO recently submitted our proposal for the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) – AI Assisted Triage and Treatment Challenge!

This challenge is focused on developing portable technologies that can monitor a person’s physiological condition and help enable faster medical assessment and treatment in forward or high-pressure environments.

Opportunities like this highlight the growing importance if embedded sensor technologies in providing real-time data when it matters most.

Great work by the team who helped bring this proposal together!!

We’re excited to share that we’ve just completed the newest version of our XO-SOLE User Instructions, now called the XO-SOLE Quick Start Guide!

The guide was redesigned to make the setup process clearer and more intuitive so users can start collecting data with XO-SOLE faster.

Just one of the many steps we're taking to continue improving the overall XO-SOLE user experience.

Sports injuries can look very different from one person to another. One athlete may suffer an ankle sprain, while another might suffer an ACL tear. Would it shock you to know that these injuries may be caused by the same thing?

Shear forces (forces acting in opposite directions) and mediolateral (side-to-side) forces are often, but not always, the culprit of many common injuries in sports.

When the body can't properly control these forces, joints are put under large amounts of stress, sliding, and strain. Over time, that stress adds up and leads to breakdown, instability, and eventually injury.

Understanding how these forces act on the body, as well as what exercises can provide control or even prevent unnecessary joint stress, is the first step toward reducing injury and improving performance.

Schedule a free demo to learn how XO-SOLE smart insoles track these very forces and offer tips to improve your form. 👇

Every movement you make affects your health and physical performance, whether for better or worse.

Most of the time, those effects are small. But sometimes, they create big changes. That’s where biomechanics, the study of human movement, comes in.

Biomechanics helps us understand how forces move through the body, how small inefficiencies can add up over time, and how even slight changes in movement can lead to meaningful outcomes.

When we understand movement, we can improve performance, reduce injury risk, and make better decisions. Decisions make from real data, not just assumptions.

It might sound counterintuitive, but braking is a big factor of speed.

Anteroposterior (forward/backward) forces reveal how an athlete decelerates, redirects load, and re-accelerates. All this is critical information that most wearable technologies can't capture.

Understand how braking shapes speed, efficiency, and injury risk. Schedule your free demo today and learn how our XO-SOLE insoles measure these forces.

Most force-sensing insoles on the market stop at vertical force. But movement isn't just vertical. Authentic movement happens in all directions.

The mediolateral (side-to-side) and anteroposterior (forward/backward) forces tell a very important story about an individual. These types of forces give us insight on why sprinters are as fast as they are, how pitchers are able to throw so fast, where balance comes into play, and where injuries can occur.

Our XO-SOLEs measure all these different forces, giving you all the insights you might need to assist you in optimizing performance or to take your research a step further.

What forces are you missing out on?

We talk about Ground Reaction Force (GRF) a lot, because it's a huge part of what we do here. But not everyone is familiar with what GRF actually is, or why it matters.

So what is it? Why do we measure it? What's the big deal?

We hope this post helps 👇

As we continue to roll out new features on our XO-SOLE user dashboard, we want to highlight what we're currently working on.

Introducing Personal Injury Risk Insights!

As you log more miles in your XO-SOLEs, they continue to collect more and more data about the way you move. Over time this allows us to create personalized insights into your relative injury risk.

Right now, we're assessing risk patterns for tibial stress fractures, chronic ankle instability, cuboid syndrome, and general running-related injuries, with many more to come!

This feature is still in beta, but just around the corner our dashboard will take your injury risk level and then provide recommendations and exercises specifically to address your areas of weakness, improve your movement efficiency, and lower your risk of injury.

At the end of the day, it's not just about adding new features. Our users are our WHY. We want to improve the lives of our users by offering insights and tools they can't find anywhere else.

💬 Comment "show me more" to get a guided walkthrough of the XO-SOLE Dashboard. 👇

From high-performance sports to physical therapy, operational readiness, and daily movement, our XO-SOLE measures what actually happens when you move in the real world. Not just in a lab.

By capturing your movement data in real-time, the XO-SOLE helps turn that movement into actionable insight. Insights that your PT can use to speed up your recovery. Insights that coaches and researchers can use to optimize your training. And insights that armed forces can use to detect injuries before they happen to active service members.

If you have questions about how this all works, or you'd like to know what this would look like in your field of work, don't hesitate to schedule a free demo!
