Want to dive deeper and longer? Establish an effective warm up routine. Have trouble relaxing? Dial in your warm up. Want a more productive spearfishing session? Incorporate a warm up.

A proper warm up for freediving utilizes the main triggers of the mammalian dive in a familiar pattern of actions that the brain learns to recognize and associate with breath hold diving, inducing a stronger initiation of the dive response than any single trigger itself. Over time, this can decrease our total warm up time, improve the strength of the physiological responses which benefit us underwater, and help prevent injury from barotrauma.

I just renewed my sponsorship for the 2022 season with , I can’t wait for my new wetsuit to arrive! Speaking of equipment, Allow me to gush for a second.

In 2021 I partnered and collaborated with brands I am so grateful to have supporting me so early in my career.

My gear and equipment these days work so well together I never have to give what I’m wearing a second thought when I’m training.

was my first official sponsorship and made me a part of “Team T” as an Alchemy Sponsored athlete. Their custom made carbon fibre fins compliment my kick and fit my foot like a glove. The Alchemy neck weight has also been a great addition to my gear. Not only does it go unnoticed when I dive but it’s also the only weight I have to wear with my 1.5 wetsuit. Love that.

was recommended to me by my first instructor, so I was loving their wetsuits even before we became partners. Since then I have recommended them to any freediver that wants to invest (without breaking the bank) in high quality, custom tailored neoprene wetsuit.

and their MissionOne is user friendly, has 10 time & depths alarms (as well as vibrates) and connects to my phone for detailed dive logs and an overall enjoyable user experience.

and I recently have collaborated together for all my nose clip, lanyard and pulling system needs. Another brand I have been using since the start. Through the year I have tried other nose clips and lanyards before but I always came back to them. The nose clip is extremely comfortable and the lanyard is streamline and stays secure for the duration of my dives.

What are you most excited about in your diving for 2022?

Can’t wait to get in the water for my first freedive of 2022. We started the New Year with a few days of storms, but damn I’m excited to see where this year of diving takes me. Hopefully to a few more far flung islands in the Pacific, and just a drop deeper in the Big Blue.
