1962 Chevrolet Impala

As Dinah Shore would croon for years, “See the USA in Your Chevrolet” was a popular way to go decade after decade. And what better way to do it than in a 1962 Chevrolet Impala convertible. Though scarcely seen today, Chevy built more than 75,000 of them that model year alone. Though it runs, this ragtop has seen better days and has ample rust to go along with the crunch it once took in the hindquarters. this project is available here for $10,500 OBO USD. As always, “Curvette” has come through with another interesting tip. When Chevrolet redesigned the full-size Impala/Bel Air/Biscayne in 1961, gone were the batwings of 1959-60. More sensible styling would prevail going forward, and each year would be an evolution of
the one before. IMO, the ’62s were the best-looking of the lot and this run would be where the Super Sport took off with buyers. This well-worn Impala is not an SS, but it was probably sharp in its day with a once-shiny white exterior and red interior. This drop-top has a 327 cubic inch V8, which was in its first year in 1962. It also has an automatic transmission which is probably a 2-speed Powerglide. Whether either is numbers matching isn’t mentioned. It was well-equipped with power steering, brakes, seats, and windows. The body of this Chevy is clearly where the majority of the restoration work will lie. Rust is quite prevalent and the right rear quarter took a hit that extends to the rear valance and bumper. However, what’s here is said to be complete but rough from years of inactivity. The title for this Chevy is MIA, just adding to things to do once you get started.

1963 Chevrolet Chevy II

1963 Chevrolet Chevy I believes this car is in near-perfect shape for a restoration, and also thinks it’s a great candidate for a muscle car project. I’d have to agree that there’s plenty of potential here, but the asking price of $8,000 may be a bit on the steep end, However, there’s no button included to make an offer, so that could make the negotiations difficult. so it’s been sitting in a dry environment. This second-year for finding it and sending in the tip! Whatever deal can be worked out on the price, this car appears to have mostly solid bones, with the only body corrosion mentioned being a few rust spots between the inside of the trunk and the rear valance. The back bumper has been tapped and will need replacing, but the body seems fairly straight overall, and what few imperfections exist could probably be massaged into shape fairly easily. The future owner will have to ponder whether to stick with the blue or respray it with something different instead, and I’m thinking this one would look good in black or another darker color. It wasn’t until 1964 that a V8 first became available in the Chevy II, with this one still having its original inline-6 under the hood. While keeping a factory engine intact is rarely a bad idea, replacing it with a V8 is also an option worth considering here, perhaps of the 283 or 327 variety. Whatever is decided, the bay appears to be in stable condition and still in good order. This is the only interior photo provided, but from this viewpoint, it looks like everything that should be there is present, except for the passenger’s kick panel. An aftermarket Stereo and some under-dash gauges have been installed, and adding a pair of buckets might be more fun than recovering the bench seat up front. This 1963 Chevy II has several possibilities, and fortunately, they all seem to be good.

Original 1972 ‘Heavy Chevy’ Chevrolet Chevelle

Chevelle fans who appreciate originality may want to take a close look at this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle you can see it here on craigslist. it as an all-original, matching-numbers car with its factory Super Sport–inspired Heavy Chevy package. It’s said to be a California car from the start, which is always a plus when it comes to long-term preservation. Thanks for the tip !

Under the hood sits the factory 350 V8 with a two-barrel carburetor, paired with an automatic transmission. notes that the car does run and drive, but it hasn’t been used as a daily driver in more than ten years. It’s currently on non-op status and comes with a clean title, so the next owner should be able to get it back on the road without dealing with back fees.

this Chevelle is all original and has never been painted. They do mention rust in the trunk, which is common in A-bodies of this era. The rest of the body’s condition isn’t detailed beyond the claim that it’s original. For a buyer who values factory finishes and unrestored cars, that could be appealing, gentle patina and all.

the car comes with extra parts, collected with the plan of restoring it. Life priorities changed, and now it’s up for sale at $12,500. the Chevelle “has a lot of options” and that they have the build sheet. Highlights mentioned in the listing include a 12-bolt rear end, factory cowl hood, and hood pins—the kinds of features that make the Heavy Chevy a standout among 1972 models, even though it wasn’t a full SS.

With an odometer reading 60,000 miles, this looks like the kind of Chevelle you don’t see as often anymore: largely untouched, documented, and not yet turned into a clone or heavily modified. Someone could restore it to factory specs, preserve its survivor status, or do a mechanical refresh and drive it as-is.

A true survivor Heavy Chevy with documentation and original equipment rarely pops up—what would you do with this one: restore it, or leave the original character intact?

1968 Dodge Charger

Anyone who walked into a Dodge dealership in 1968 had to have at least $3,014 in their bank account if they wanted a Charger. The R/T was more expensive, as the base price was $3,480.
Despite the higher prices, the Charger was hit. Dodge sold over 96K Chargers (including the R/T), and the growing sales were confirmation that the new hardtop was exactly what customers expected.

The Coroner-based Charger was available with a 318 V8 as the base engine. The unit developed only 230 horsepower, so customers who wanted more power could explore the options list, which included the 383 two-barrel with 290 horsepower and the four-barrel version with 300 horsepower.

The higher you got, the more exciting the available engines became. The 440 Magnum developed 375 horsepower, while the icing on the cake was the Hemi with 425 horsepower. However, the Hemi was also the most expensive, so it made its way to only 475 Chargers. This 1968 Charger rolled off the assembly lines with a 318 auto configuration in charge of propelling it, but you don't have to be a connoiseur to understand that everything under the hood is now in rough shape.

where you'll need to replace the seats and redo most of the upholstery. The buyer will also need a new windshield, and I'm certain the restoration work will include many other parts, so it's strongly recommended that you appoint an in-person or third-party inspection before committing to a purchase.

The engine is as mysterious as possible. While the 318 is inside, it's unclear if it still has any life left in it. The engine might be stuck from the long years of sitting, so you must contact the owner and ask more questions. Fingers crossed that the engine turns over, albeit many buyers would probably be interested in a more potent mill for this Charger. A Hemi would be a dream coming true, so I wouldn't be surprised to see this Charger getting a new engine as part of its overhaul. The bidding for the right to take this Charger home is underway, with 34 offers received since the auction went live earlier this week. The top bid is $13,100, and considering it's a no-reserve battle.

1957 Ford Skyliner Conversion

With it being Halloween , how appropriate it is to feature a Frankenstein “creation” of sorts that’s straight out of a mad scientist’s garage/laboratory in Edselvania. When introduced for the 1958 model year, Edsel didn’t offer a retractable hardtop, but somebody professionally converted a 1957 Ford Skyliner into one and it’s been a museum piece for the past nine years. It’s gonna need some work, though, as the retractable hardtop is not currently operating and there’s also some rust on the underside in the trunk area that will need attention. Not much history is given on this unique car. The front fascia is from a ’58 Edsel Pacer and the rear end treatment took some doing as it has the distinctive Edsel scallops on each side and the retrofitted boomerang taillights that were featured on the ’58 Edsel Roundup, Villager, and Bermuda station wagons. Overall, the body looks solid and the two-toned white and maroon paint looks very presentable (the 2015 for sale ad showed a photo with the car sporting a maroon retractable top). The chrome, glass, lenses, badging and trim look very good and I’ve always been a fan of those super-cool color-keyed spinner wheel covers. The color-coordinated interior appears to be in good shape and is a mish-mash of Edsel and Ford components. It has the instrument panel and dash from a ’58 Edsel, but has a column shift automatic (instead of Edsel’s gimmicky Teletouch push button transmission) and the steering wheel has a horn ring from a ’59 Edsel. the transmission does operate to move it. Everything does seem to work, except the top.” many specifics about the retractable’s engine other than it’s a V8, it runs, it has an Edelbrock carb, and a power brake booster with a dual master cylinder upgrade. The mileage is listed at 98,765. This isn’t the only Edsel retractable that’s ever been created (there have also been several Edsel “Rancheros” created as well), and it definitely has the novelty factor going for it. Some purists will turn up their noses .

1978 Ford LTD Station Wagon

1978 was the last year before the Ford LTD switched to the smaller Panther platform, with the car shedding some significant size and weight beginning with the ’79 model, which was passed on to the station wagon lineup as well. If you’ve been in the market for one of the larger wagons from this period, this 1978 Ford LTD might be worth considering, as it’s claimed to be 100% rust-free. That’s not to say it doesn’t need some work, as we’ll see in a moment. Rocco B. spotted this one here on Craigslist in Redlands, California, and we’d like to thank him for making us aware of it! $4,900, and also mentions that trades are welcome. From the outside, there’s not much to complain about here, as the sheet metal appears to be in very nice condition. the Ford was a one-owner vehicle. Baby Blue was still a popular color during this era, and the paint has just the right amount of patina on the front section to be considered cool. There’s a roof rack on top, so some extra outside luggage space is available, and with a fresh set of wheel covers, this one’s ready to roll from my perspective. Moving to the interior, things begin to go downhill, as the front seats, carpet, headliner, and driver’s door panel are in tatters. I’m not sure what caused this, hopefully not critters of any sort, but the rear bench looks much better. Even further back, it’s great to see those optional extra seats facing each other, with the seller claiming that they have never been used. This one also has power windows, with all said to be working. Looking under the hood, things in the bay seem to still be in decent order, Having only been used for a relatively low 86,000 miles is a plus, as this hopefully means that there’s still some life remaining here. However, this one will need to be towed, due to the long amount of time it’s been sitting. The front area of the interior concerns me, but I’m liking most everything else about this 1978 Ford LTD station wagon.
