Support if you can. The Oneonta Veteran's Outreach Center is in need of help. Below is a post shared by a local veteran and a dear friend of mine.
Community Call for Donations
The Oneonta Veteran's Outreach Center is in urgent need of donations. I stopped by today, and the shelves are nearly bare. Now more than ever, our local veterans could use our support.
Most Needed Items:
• Rice (instant or microwaveable preferred)
• Shelf-stable microwaveable meals (such as Compleats and similar options)
• Salad dressings, barbecue sauce, ketchup, ranch, and seasonings
• Butter or margarine
• Prepackaged snacks for kids' and adults' lunchboxes
• Cleaning supplies, disinfectant sprays, and laundry detergent
• Cereal (they are completely out)
• Cheese
• Crackers and other snack items
While treats are not a priority, many pantry recipients rarely get them. Donations of cookies, candy, or soda can provide a small but meaningful comfort for our veterans.
Additional Needs:
• Baked goods for Thursday morning AA meetings
•birthday cake kits assembled by community groups, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, or other organizations (include all ingredients and a recipe for a complete cake)
If you live outside the Oneonta area and would still like to help, gift cards to local grocery stores are greatly appreciated. Staff can use them to purchase needed items, support veteran meals, and help keep pantry shelves stocked.
Every donation makes a difference. Even adding an extra $5–$10 worth of items to your grocery cart over the next few weeks could help ensure our veterans do not go hungry this summer.
Please donate only unexpired food and items that you would feel comfortable serving to your own family. Expired donations cannot be distributed and create additional work for the volunteers who serve our veterans.
Please message me with any questions. Let's come together and show our veterans that this community cares!
