Polynomial

Polynomial We’re Polynomial. As a specialty contractor, we love unique, daring projects too hot for traditional construction. That’s Polynomial in a nutshell. Be honest.

We do most of our fabricating with metal, but not always, because we’re flexible like that. We typically work with designers, architects, and contractors, but pretty much anyone with discerning eyeballs can give us a ring. Mostly, we value giving people the personalized attention they deserve. OK, now that we’ve introduced ourselves … let’s explain who we are. Recently, we’ve watched the world bec

ome increasingly custom-made — from hybrid dogs that don’t shed to hybrid cars that don’t pollute — yet the architecture and engineering community remains shockingly cookie-cutter. The same old fabricator-distributor relationships, the same old quotes, the same old roadblocks. We wanted to approach things from a different angle. So unlike many of our peers who’re content with exclusionary relationships, we decided to incorporate the largest network of field-tested fabricators and distributors in the region. Which is just a fancy way of saying, “We got a guy for that.”

Our penchant for collaborating with the best and brightest means we have access to the most cutting-edge materials and digital tooling around. We’re able to tailor project-specific treatment for every client and help save money by cutting down on red tape, wasted time, and B.S. There’s no part too rare, no building process too sophisticated, no elbow too greasy. Whether we’re building in-house with our own sexy, calloused hands or reaching out to other fabricators, work gets done the right way, by the right person. As a bonus, we’re one of the few companies that speak the rare language of both builders and designers (it’s basically English, but sawdust puffs out on long vowels). We offer design-assist services to define and document the solution while providing budgetary feedback as necessary. This increases profitability for the design and construction team, decreases risk and the overall cost for the owner, and maintains the design integrity of your special project. In an industry that’s grown far too formulaic, our name signifies a blank equation waiting to take shape, a challenge with any number of solutions. What do you think? But only if it’s flattering.

We couldn't let 2022 go without making an Instagram official announcement of three team members we added in the second half of the year. So far, we've asked each of them to jump in on a variety of tasks.

Fernando, Nandy for short, and no, that's not a joke about his height or lack thereof. You've seen him working on the installation of NUIHC, sanding for days (literally) on SCC, cutting all of the material for DMU, freezing at Madsen, and fabricating Yates.

Tyler, don't ask him about racing or Exeter. He's only been with us for a few months but has made big impacts on DMU and SCC.

Mason, the only thing this guy refuses to do is lay bricks. He managed, designed, fabricated, and installed NUIHC. Even though he's a certified welding TA, he selflessly volunteers his time in the office and wood shop.

We've made some excellent additions to our team, and we're working on lots of acronym projects right now. Hopefully, we can take a break over the holidays and share some of them.

WE'RE HIRING

Over the past year, we have been marketing and winning work regionally and are looking to expand the team to meet this new demand.

Polynomial is a specialty architectural fabrication and design shop that focuses on the custom, unique, and challenging portions of construction projects. We are not beholden to any specific material; we believe in solving problems in the best way possible. Our team is comprised of architects, machinists, welders, and carpenters. We have some very exciting things lined up for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023 and would love to add you to the team!

Check out our website for more examples of our work.

Top Reasons Not to Work With Us

You love monotony and thrive on doing the same thing every day. All our projects are different and require a constant state of learning. But we love it and you should too.

You like to rush through tasks and aren’t concerned about quality. We are the type of shop that is driven by perfection. Our clients expect it from us, and we deliver on our promise time and time again.

You are a lone ranger and like to work alone. There is one thing we are sure of and that’s that the team is everything. We are always jumping in to help each other out and we are better because of it.

You think you know it all and want everyone else to know it.

You want to be told what to do all day, err day.

Not sure how we got so lucky, but THREE years ago Alex joined Polynomial and has been slaying it since. Our website is a collection of her greatest hits! She is instrumental to the team, and you can see her great work all over Omaha and beyond. Congrats, Alex!

Operation Fenestration is nearly complete!

-26 custom windows
-9 custom doors
-3 overhead doors

And only three windows remain to be installed at our new shop. I don't think we'll be finished before the end of the year.

Hey everybody, this is Steve in the Insta world. I'll let you ask him why that is his handle and why we had a custom chainsaw pinata made for him for his 1-year anniversary. He started on the team as an intern while a student at the UNL College of Architecture. He has been working with us for over a year since graduating but it's been tough to get him to sit still long enough to make this post. He's our literal swiss army knife. With so many uses it's often hard to say what he actually does day to day. Recently he has been transitioning from the jack of all trades shop guy to a project management role. His girlfriend voiced concern that if we strap him to a desk he'll go home sad. No one wants a sad Steve so we're happy to help him find that balance while growing his role. Steve, one of the all-time greatest additions to the team! Here's to hoping the C of A will produce a hundred more just like him! Though I seriously doubt they can do it even once more...

Our intern is better than your intern!

Mason was the latest participant in our long-standing and prestigious internship program (we've had three.) He excelled in the office on tasks ranging from concept design to shop drawings. At a moments notice he was able to switch gears and be a serious contributor in the shop. It was great having Mason around. Fingers crossed we can talk him into coming back next year!

Thanks to for giving Mason the opportunity to talk about some of his experience!

Meet Mason our summer intern from The UNL College of Architecture. I suppose we should have introduced you to him before seeing that today is his last day but we've had him so busy he couldn't even sit still for these photos. This dude has kept it real doing just about anything from sweeping the floor to operating the CNC and designing weird stuff for weird clients!

I'm not sure if we'll miss him, it might take some time to really figure that out but either way he's just down the road at the ol' alma mater. In all seriousness though he's been a great he taught us a few things and hopefully learned a few himself!

Thanks Mason!
