📣 We celebrate transit employees and their dedication to reliable service and safety.

Today is National ! In the United States, more than 437,000 people are directly employed in the public transportation industry, working each day to keep Americans moving to jobs, classrooms, medical appointments, shopping, and to see friends and family.

We celebrate on March 18, because that is the day that public transportation came into existence, with the 1662 start of Blaise Pascal's horse drawn bus system in Paris, France.

Since then, buses and ferries have moved away from literal horse-power and paddles to new power sources, and trains have also been invented, but public transportation systems still depend on hard working employees to keep local communities moving.

Thank you to all the vital the front line equipment operators, mechanics, construction workers, planners, accountants, engineers, cleaners, lawyers, techies, police, and additional support staff who deliver mobility to tens of millions of Americans everyday.
