We're proud to partner with Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture and Heart Ministry Center on a project that is about so much more than a grocery store. The planned development in Omaha's historic North 24th Street corridor is designed to improve food access, create economic opportunity, and serve as a catalyst for continued community investment. ๐Ÿ’š

โœจ Celebrating Milestone Anniversaries! โœจ
This week at Morrissey Engineering, weโ€™re excited to recognize two important milestone anniversaries.

Andy Lang is marking 20 years with Morrissey Engineering! Looking back, heโ€™s especially proud of his work on community projects, including those for non-profits, education, and cultural arts. Some of his recent favorites are the Blue Barn Theatre, the Union for Contemporary Art, the Joslyn Art Museum, Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, and Sunset Hills Elementary, where his children go to school. He shared, "Working on the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, whose conservationist ideals have impacted and shaped how I view nature, has been a highlight of my career."

Steve Farrington is celebrating 25 years at Morrissey Engineering. He was one of the first interns to join MEI in its early days. When asked about his most rewarding projects, he said, "The most meaningful projects are those that serve a purpose beyond the building itselfโ€”supporting education, places of worship, community spaces, and local businesses. It's rewarding to be part of work that ultimately benefits the people who use these spaces every day."

We truly value their dedication, experience, and the impact theyโ€™ve made. Congratulations to Andy and Steve!

It was an honor to be recognized at this year's ACEC Nebraska Awards ceremony last night!

The Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) received the ACEC Honor with Distinction Award and was named Category Winner for Building/Technology Systems. This achievement celebrates the exceptional teamwork and ingenuity that made this landmark project possible. Exceptional partners are required for any project's success, and this was no exception. BVH Architecture served as the Design Architect and Architect of Record for the renovation of this historic building and the mass timber addition. Building systems are thoughtfully integrated throughout to preserve and promote inclusive, sustainable environments. The project leaves a lasting impact on Nebraska's arts community and sets a new standard for cultural spaces.

๐ŸŒ Earth Day 2026: Our Power, Our Planet
Design shapes both the systems we build and our shared future. At Morrissey Engineering, we're committed to the AIA 2030 Challenge. Our projects reported for 2025 are on track to achieve 69% energy savings compared to the baseline, demonstrating the meaningful impact of our work.

We focus on people, resources, and the planet. We have designed our own building and updated others to use less energy, save resources, and create healthier spaces. By using high-performance systems, alternative energy, and supporting LEED certification, we set standards like Net-Zero and back ambitious projects such as the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library's pursuit of the Living Building Challenge. Our work is driven by a commitment to long-term impact.

Earth Day reminds us that careful engineering and teamwork lead to real change. By working together, we can use design to build a more sustainable and resilient planet for today and the future.
