Werth, Inc.

Werth, Inc. Leading in coordinate measuring technology with optics, probes, computer tomography and multisensor technology Devices with multiple sensors, e.g.

Coordinate measuring machines are used to measure geometric properties of workpieces such as lengths, angles, diameters or even complex position tolerances. image processing, laser and probe, are called multisensor coordinate measuring machines. Werth focuses on the development, manufacture and sales of coordinate measuring machines with optics, probes, computer tomography and multisensor technolo

gy, as well as the measurement of micro features. The global technology leadership in these market segments is reflected in a number of world firsts and patents on instrument technology and sensor technology. The achievable accuracy of Werth instruments can be in the range of a few micrometers or even in the range of a few 10 nanometers for high-precision systems, defining Werth as the world leader in multisensor coordinate measuring machines. More than 10,000 Werth coordinate measuring machines are installed worldwide in a wide variety of industries. Examples of application fields for these machines are: Aerospace, automotive, electronics, jewelry, watchmaking, toolmaking, plastic injection molding, medical technology, turbine manufacturing, and aluminum and plastic extrusion. Customer orientation and long-term company development are the most important goals for Werth

The experience gained from over 70 years of company history forms the basis of our success. The focus is on a long-term strategy of continuous new and further development of technically leading products. Quality, innovation and good service are the way to achieve optimal solutions for the metrological tasks of our customers and a high level of user satisfaction. For decades, this has led to increasing demand worldwide for Werth and to above-average, mostly double-digit growth rates.

Fitting measuring point clouds to the CAD model is a prerequisite for many evaluation options, for example for 3D nominal-to-part deviation analyses and automatic burr detection in the WinWerth® measurement software. Find out how reliable fitting in WinWerth® is possible even for workpieces with minimal deviations from rotational symmetry.

X-ray tomography coordinate measuring machines are used to X-ray the workpieces and reconstruct a virtual workpiece volume. In principle, this also contains information about the voids & inclusions inside of the workpiece. Find out what void evaluation options the WinWerth® measurement software offers.

In order to be able to carry out three-dimensional (3D) measurements of workpieces with optical sensors, a method for measurements along the third coordinate axis is required in addition to the image processing sensor. One such distance sensor is the Werth Laser Probe (WLP), which can be integrated into the beam path of the Werth Zoom to combine edge and distance measurements without mechanical sensor change (patent).

The selection of the sensor for multi-sensor applications must always be made taking into account the measuring task. Economic aspects such as measuring time and costs also play a role. The structure of the sensors consisting of mechanics, optics, electronics and software is very different. This leads to very different properties, the basic understanding of which is necessary for optimal use.

Laminography is an excellent option for the analysis and measurement of printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies. If a large piece of printed circuit board needs to be tomographed, the substantial aspect ratio could lead to a collision between the workpiece and the X-ray source during its rotation to acquire radiographic images. A solution is offered by Swing and Planar Laminography, where the angular range for capturing radiographic images is significantly reduced, or movement occurs only in a planar manner.

To achieve high resolution, the distance between the workpiece and the X-ray tube must be very small. If it is large, flat workpieces such as printed circuit boards are to be tomographed, the large aspect ratio could lead to a […]
