The truck scale quote looked reasonable. Then the site prep estimate arrived. For a traditional pit-style truck scale, excavation, concrete, drainage, and electrical can add $40,000 to $80,000 on top of equipment cost. That's a number a lot of buyers don't see coming.

Our Flat Top truck scale is above-ground and pitless. No digging. No concrete pit. No drainage system. You're buying a scale, not funding a construction project. Same NTEP certification. Same accuracy. Very different total cost.

If you're evaluating a truck scale, we'll walk through everything with you — equipment and site prep — before you commit.

How much is your scale costing you if it's off?

If you're running 500 head and your scale is reading 10 pounds light, that's 5,000 pounds per load. At today's prices, that's real money — and it's gone before you ever see it.

Most scale drift happens slowly. No alarm goes off. The numbers just quietly slide until someone finally checks.

We do on-site calibrations across Oklahoma. Bring certified test weights, check your readings, give you a calibration certificate, and tell you honestly if anything needs attention.

When's the last time yours was calibrated? If you have to think about it, that's the answer.

Preventive Maintenance

Summer hauling season is approaching fast. For fleet managers, quarry operators, and construction companies, that usually means heavier loads, more traffic, and scales working longer hours every week.

High volume is when deferred maintenance starts showing up. Load cells that were borderline in spring do not improve with constant traffic. A loose connection causing occasional read errors can turn into daily downtime when trucks are lined up. Oklahoma heat adds another layer of wear on electronics and structural components.

A preventive maintenance visit before peak summer activity is one of the best ways to protect reliability through the busy season. We inspect the full system from load cells to indicator, check structural connections, clear drainage paths, test zero and span, and document everything so your scale is ready for heavier use.

For recycling yards, sand and gravel operations, and fleets moving loads every day, scale downtime in July or August means trucks waiting and lost productivity.

Getting ahead of maintenance now can help avoid bigger problems later.

Some operations outgrow their scale setup before they realize it's happening. A livestock operation adds pens and traffic flow changes. A recycling yard expands and the old single-truck scale becomes a bottleneck. A construction company takes on bigger contracts and needs a permanent scale on site instead of hauling to a public one. When that moment comes, the installation matters as much as the equipment itself.

A scale that's installed wrong, in the wrong location, or without proper site prep is going to give you problems from day one. Poor drainage causes load cell damage. Bad placement creates traffic backups. Undersized capacity for your heaviest trucks means you're in trouble before the first full year is out.

Sooner Scale Inc. has been installing truck scales and livestock scales across Oklahoma and the surrounding region since 1969. We look at your site, your traffic patterns, your load types, and what you're actually trying to accomplish, and we set things up to work for your operation, not just to get the equipment in the ground.

We also handle the startup, testing, and calibration so when we hand it over to you, it's ready to work from the first truck that rolls across it. No guesswork, no calling around trying to figure out why the indicator isn't reading right.

Whether it's a new installation or a replacement of aging equipment, getting the setup right from the start saves a lot of headaches down the road.

Combo Truck & Livestock Scale

Running multiple operations usually means juggling multiple systems. Separate scales mean more cost, more maintenance, and more problems.

A Combo Scale handles trucks and livestock on one platform.

One system can weigh
• Cattle
• Feed trucks
• Haul trucks

Why it makes sense
• Saves space
• Reduces equipment costs
• Simplifies operations

For co-ops, farms, and mixed operations, this setup keeps everything organized and efficient.

Spring cattle runs are well underway and if your scale has been drifting without you realizing it, you may already be settling weights that aren't quite right. A scale doesn't have to be obviously broken to be costing you money. Sometimes it's just a little off, and a little off on every head across a long spring run adds up faster than most people expect.

Calibration is the straightforward fix. We bring certified test weights out to your location, run your scale through a proper calibration procedure, and get you a documented result you can keep on file. If something's off, we find out right then and there instead of after the fact.

For ranchers and livestock operations, accurate weights on sale day and shipping day are everything. For feedyards, your ration accuracy depends on your scale being honest. For quarry and gravel operators, every overweight or underweight load is either money left on the table or a billing dispute waiting to happen.

There's no good time for wrong numbers, but wrong numbers in the middle of a busy spring run are especially hard to absorb. A calibration visit before the next big push is cheap insurance compared to the alternative.

Numbers you can trust when it counts. That's what we're here for.

By the time May hits, most operations are running at full throttle. Cattle are moving, construction sites are active, trucks are hauling, and the last thing anybody wants to deal with is a scale that's acting up in the middle of all of it.

The operators who don't have scale problems in May are usually the ones who set up a scheduled service program before the season got busy. It's not complicated. You pick a service interval that makes sense for how hard your scale works, we put it on the calendar, and we show up whether you remember to call or not. Your scale gets checked, cleaned, tested, and documented on a regular basis, and you stay focused on running your operation.

For feedyards turning cattle through daily, recycling yards running heavy trucks all week, and construction operations billing by the load, consistency in your scale's performance isn't a luxury. It's what keeps your numbers clean and your paperwork solid when someone asks questions.

A scheduled program also means we know your equipment. We've seen it season after season, so when something starts trending the wrong direction, we catch it early instead of after it becomes an emergency call on a Friday afternoon.

Keeps trucks moving. Keeps your records straight. Keeps you out of a bind when it matters most.

By May, most yards are running wide open. Material is moving nonstop, trucks are stacked up early, and schedules are tight. When your scale slows down, everything else slows down with it.

Our Flat Top Truck Scale is built for high-volume days and long hours. Trucks can roll on, get weighed, and roll off quickly without worrying about pits, flooding, or constant breakdowns.

What it helps with
• Faster weigh-ins and weigh-outs
• Less congestion in the yard
• Reduced driver wait time

Why people choose it
• No pit maintenance
• Lower installation costs
• Built for heavy daily traffic

For quarries, concrete plants, and fleet yards, this scale keeps production moving when volume is high.

If your scale is becoming the bottleneck, now is the time to fix it before summer hits.
