In 1914, three Pennsylvania firefighters banded together with the intent of building a better fire pump. They succeeded. Their combined spirit of ingenuity and grit lives on today as Hale Products. Those three men—Alan C. Hale, E.J. Wendell, and C.H. Young, Jr—developed the first Hale fire pump using improved gasoline engine technology and christened it the “Young Giant.” During the next century o

FEMA has announced $648M in funding to support fire departments nationwide and now is the time to take advantage of it.

We know budgets are tight and every dollar matters. These grants are designed to help departments invest in the tools and technology that make a real difference on scene.

Whether you’re outfitting a new apparatus with solutions like the SAM System to improve water flow and efficiency, or replacing aging apparatus altogether.

Three FEMA grant programs are open now through June 22:
• Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) – $291.6M for equipment, vehicles, PPE, and responder health
• SAFER Grants – $324M to support hiring, recruitment, and retention
• Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) – $32.4M for prevention efforts and safety research

🗓 Application window: May 19 – June 22, 2026

If you’ve been putting off critical upgrades, this is an opportunity to move your department forward.

Today is a day to pause.
To honor. To remember. To reflect.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance.

A day to honor those who gave their lives in service to the United States, and to reflect on the sacrifice made by them and the families they left behind.

We honor their courage.
We remember their sacrifice.
We reflect on all that was given.

SAM handled the water, So attendees could focus on learning about products.

During FDIC, our SAM System supplied and controlled all the water for the outdoor demo space, giving attendees a real‑world look at what automated waterflow management can do.

SAM pumped six lines at once, managing pressure and keeping it consistent as demand changed, without anyone at the pump panel.

When output exceeded supply, SAM automatically opened the tank to offset demand, refilled it, and kept water moving without interruption.

That’s the power of automation on the fireground.
SAM takes the complexity out of waterflow management, making operations simpler, faster, and safer. so firefighters can stay focused on strategy, not controls.

SAM handles the water. So you can focus on everything else.

These operators say it's simple, with SAM handling pump operations, they can stay laser-focused on supporting their crew.

From helping them stretch lines to grabbing tools, SAM frees them up to make a difference on the fireground. 🚒💪

FDIC 2026 sparked meaningful conversations around pump performance, water delivery, pressure management, and control.

Throughout the week, Hale connected with firefighters, OEMs, dealers, and partners who stopped by to dig into how pumps perform as scenes expand and demands change.

Those conversations carried from the show floor to the outdoor demo space, where crews saw trusted Hale pumps up close, took part in a hands‑on SAM System demo, and got a first look at the next‑generation QMAX, built for modern apparatus and evolving fireground needs.

As multiple lines opened and closed during the outdoor demonstrations, firefighters saw the SAM System automatically adjust to changing demand while maintaining steady pressure; reinforcing how control at the pump can reduce workload at the panel and keep operations smooth on the fireground.

Inside the booth, conversations continued around how connected insight through Captium supports confidence in pump performance beyond the panel and back at the station.

Technology isn’t on the way, it’s been shaping the fire service for decades. SAM is simply the next intentional step in that evolution.

On IAFC’s Tech Talk Tuesday, Jason Cerrano, the engineer behind the SAM System, explored how connected tools are helping departments stay efficient despite staffing shortages, rising call volumes, and increasingly complex firegrounds.

From streamlining pump operations to helping attract the next generation of firefighters, the conversation underscored why thoughtful technology adoption is critical for the future of emergency response.

Legacy performance. Built for what’s next.

Meet the next‑generation QMAX‑APX, delivering the proven QMAX waterflow you trust, now engineered for modern chassis, evolving emissions requirements, and data‑driven fireground operations.

Built on a standardized, modular architecture, QMAX‑APX allows OEMs to configure multiple pump layouts from a single base platform; reducing engineering complexity while maintaining consistent performance.

With increased driveline torque capacity, reduced noise, and reduced weight, it’s designed to meet the demands of next‑generation powertrains.

Supporting expanded sensors and pump telemetry through Captium, QMAX‑APX enables smarter diagnostics, better visibility, and more connected apparatus design; improving ergonomics, access, and safety without compromising durability or serviceability.

The fireground moves fast. Your waterflow has to keep up.

The SAM System gives the crew what they need most: reliable water, fewer distractions, and real backup.

While SAM handles pressure and flow, your pump operator is free to watch conditions, support the attack, and stay in the fight, not glued to the panel.

That means faster knocks, tighter coordination, and a crew that can focus on the job instead of the gauges.

More support. More control. More fireground dominance.
