Glidden's are proud of this announcement and this latest news!

Unity Temple is named as nomination as one of top 10 Wright sites, for UNESCO as a World Heritage nomination.

The list includes such iconic places as the Taj Mahal, Stonehenge and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon National Park and the Statue of Liberty National Monument. The final decision on the designation will be made in summer 2017.

Foster & Glidden was the responsible firm for the plumbing, heating, and also is one of the parties responsible for the pouring concrete (structural) and also concrete, agregate, and aggregate exterior....and more recently (electrical) and wiring!...also the historic drawings at the Unity Temple foundation named them as the 'engineers' and authors of historic bluelines, prints. The Temple retains the labeled drawings, ones showing 'Foster & Glidden' labeled on the drawings archives dated 1906.

Mar. 1st is Wilmot Glidden's Birthday! (1859-1939). He was
born the youngest of 9 children to Benjamin Glidden and
Frances Emma Stephens in Friendsville, Susquehannah, PA.
He was born during President Lincoln's time, and was 6 years
old during the 1865 Emancipation Proclamation. He grew up without electricity, which came later in 1878-80's. Horses were popular during that time and he grew up without a car. Even with all this environment and humble beginnings, his interests grew, for entreprenuership and led to his many technical inventions today!
Happy Birthday Wilmot! 156 years later!
