First of all, let me compliment you on your amazing customer service, I can’t thank you enough for assisting with my installation conundrums with my Maule M-6-235. The deck angle for full stall is pretty impressive and getting the angle right on the probe was compounded by a leak in our installation. Your patience and assistance with the process was truly top notch though.
I live in Juneau, Alaska and flew last night before our most recent storm blew in this morning. Darkness comes early to Alaska in October. In my previous life I would always check the night illumination before flying at night. I forgot last night… I used to be a navy helicopter pilot flying SH-60B Seahawks on NVGs off small ships in the middle of the pacific. That environment provides a true insight into what complete and utter darkness can look like. Last night illumination was 0.1% with I high overcast layer. This layer was high enough to prevent any cultural light reverberation to assist in the flight, which was as dark as any night ship landing I’ve experienced. So with 4,000’ mountains less than a few miles from the airport your AOA system was extremely helpful maintaining my SA in the pattern.
The EAGLE HUD proved to be exactly what I hoped it would be. (I’m even more impressed with the fact that it’s calibrated to my flap settings unlike prior AOAs I’ve used in the past). Anyhow, just thought I’d send you a quick note to say thank you and let you know how impressed I am with you and your AOA! Keep up the good work.
