Eldesarian Metal Works - Lamellar T6 Aluminum Lamellar Plates for SCA, LARP, and reenactment. Please contact us for competitive pricing. T6 aluminum came out of these studies. (It doesn’t rust.)

Back in 2004, I started to think it would be great to supply the SCA heavy fighting community with a more period style lamellar plate. This came out of experiences I had had with European Viking reenactors. This interest turned into us making the Wisby D plate that we have sold ever since. I did a lot of weight and strength studies with materials to determine the best material to use. Even a Low c

arbon steel plate, made from 20 guage (.032” thick), weighed 12 pounds compared to an 8 pound Aluminum vest, and that plate being so thin bent easily. Heavier gauge steel plates were obviously right out. I have used the plates, we sell, since that time and it makes a huge difference not only in endurance and speed, but also protection is maximized. The aluminum can be anodized or acid etched, and it has very little preventive maintenance requirements. We now have 3 lamellar plates in our business model, the long standing Wisby D plate, a tombstone plate, and a Japanese Kozane plate. I am a Duke, Knight, and Master of the Laurel in the Society for Creative Anachronism. We always do our best to ensure that “The customer is King!” Chivalry and communication are key when handling all business affairs as far as we are concerned. Most Sincerely,

My good friend Adam Brinsley has helped me get the Kilbanion plate going. Here is a couple pics of the most recent armoured Kilbanion suit he is making for himself. He uses thin gauge steel. We are very close to stocking these plates in T6 Aluminum. Let us know if you wanna get in on the first order.

OK everyone,
I need more confirmed interest for .062" thick, T6 aluminum Kilbanion plates if I am to inventory these. Looks like they will be $1.00 each. (Only have 500 kilbanion plates on pre-order currently.)
See thread below that describes these plates in detail.

If you want these please send me an IM here if you have interest in pre-ordering these.
Thx!

Thinking about starting a new line of plates. Kilbanion plates to be specific. I could get in steel or T6 aluminum. The price of both aluminum and steel has inflated significantly. I will add some pics of what the armored vest would look like using these plates. These would be very historically correct, in steel. If aluminum, not so much, but the plate design would still be historical. We are just a plate seller, and thus don't lace nor make full sets of armor. We have found that to be out of the buyers budget due to American hourly wage requirements.
So, is there much interest for these. I suspect the price per plate in T6 aluminum would be in the range of 85 cents to 1.00 USD. 20 gage steel would be approx. 1/2 that. They are bigger than any plate we have previously sold, so a vest would use a lot less plates.

Sending out gold anodized Wisby plates tomorrow.

Hello everyone. We need some advice. Sales were quite slow last year. We are restocking Wisby D plates because everyone loves them, and we can keep at a reasonable price. The Tombstone plates and squamata plates have not turned into a great seller, and we currently have zero tombs, and only about 2000 squamata left. The price of T6 aluminum, that we use for our plates, has gotten very expensive since the pandemic, and thus profit margins have diminished significantly. OR made the plates cost prohibitive as is the case with tombstones. So, we are asking you, Our Patrons, what type plates do you think would sell in the future besides D plates? What material? (BTW, we have checked pricing on softer aluminum, and its only pennies cheaper... per plate.)

Thanks for your insight, thoughts, and continued patronage!

Lets go back to 55 cents each for a tombstone plate. When inventory runs out, its very unlikely we will stock these ever again. Buyum while we gottum. Pic of my etched "iron-look" tombstone vest.

This is me wearing my Wisby D plate lamellar vest at Pennsic 50. This vest was first laced and worn in 2007. You can see some minor wear (I actually like the way it shows the edge wear especially.) Pretty good annodized black for 16 years of fighting. Yes, it has seen a relace or 3. Just really liked the pic and wanted to boast!!!
