Controls Engineer for Machine Builds - Minimal Travel

We serve several industries including but not limited to Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Material Processing, Agriculture, Weld Assembly, and Quality Control.
We are located in Norton Shores, Michigan, between Grand Haven and Muskegon. We are a successful and growing company seeking motivated individuals with a positive attitude. This is a full-time, immediate opening, first shift position.
Position Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Controls Engineer who will be responsible for quoting, designing, programming, and supporting custom equipment builds.
· Utilize AutoCAD and/or Draftsight 2D software to design Electrical and Pneumatic Schematics
· Utilize Allen Bradley and GE software to program PLC’s and HMI’s from scratch.
· Be in direct contact with the customer for the duration of the project from design reviews through run-off support.
· Lead machine design and review, and ensure the timely, accurate, and successful implementation of machine designs.
· Document responsibilities and actions to maintain accurate records of project accountabilities.
· Monitor and control objectives, costs, and timetables of project design and development.
· At times you will also have the opportunity to work hands-on with the machines, and in some occasions be required to travel to the customer facilities.
· Most travel is local to the West Michigan area within approximately a 70 mile radius of Muskegon. No overnight stays required.
Candidate Requirements:
Working knowledge and skill set including:
· PLC Programming: Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 and RSLogix 500, GE Proficy
· HMI Programming: Factory Talk View Studio, Studio View Designer, GE Proficy
· Servo and Motion Control
· Vision System Programming: Cognex, Keyence, Sensopart, GVI, Teledyne
· Variable Frequency Drives
· Electrical Schematic Design
· Pneumatic Design
· Electrical and Pneumatic Bills of Material creation
· AutoCAD / Draftsight 2D drawing
· Robotics: FANUC, Denso
· Panel, wiring, and machine troubleshooting
Desired training and experience:
· 5+ years industry experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
· Experience with AutoCAD, Draftsight, or equivalent 2D design software
· Strong electrical and programming aptitude
· PC Software including Microsoft Office Word, Excel
· Understanding of problem solving methodologies and tools
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Team Leadership
· Detail Oriented
· Project Management Skills
· Ability to work hands-on with tools and machinery
Position Benefits
· Competitive Pay Rates $24-$50 per hour / $80,000-$130,000 Salary
· Paid Hourly with Time and a Half over 40 hours (unless Salary position is negotiated)
