May is for MAKING SAFETY A SHARED VALUE 🧠
Safety isn't just a rule in a manual; it’s our culture. We celebrate our safety wins in our company newsletter, "The High Five," and wear our IMPACT safety gear with pride to keep safety visible.
Monthly Highlight: We nominate a "Safety Hero" each month for public recognition; Christopher Bryson is our most recent Safety Hero!
🤔🧠 Read more on Chris below:
At our Northwood, Ohio location, Christopher Bryson wears more than one hard hat. While he’s a dedicated shear operator, he also serves as our Safety Champion, a role that takes awareness, accountability, and the confidence to speak up when something doesn’t look right.
So, what exactly makes Chris a Safety Champion?
It means he’s constantly evaluating the workplace, identifying potential hazards, and helping address concerns before they become problems. Chris was chosen for this role because he’s a true solutions person. He doesn’t just react to issues, he sees them coming. His superpower may not be flight or invisibility, but it is vision. Chris has a unique ability to recognize how actions impact the people around him and how small oversights can quickly become bigger safety risks.
And one thing about Chris, he is not afraid to use his voice.
In a warehouse environment, safety should always be the loudest voice in the room, and Chris makes sure it is heard. Whether he’s pointing out a concern, suggesting improvements, or reminding others to stay alert, he leads with the mindset that everyone deserves to go home safe at the end of the day.
For Chris, safety is personal.
Before joining our team, Chris experienced a life-threatening injury caused by someone else’s carelessness. The accident completely changed his life and required more than a year of recovery before he could return to the workforce. Rather than letting that experience define him negatively, Chris uses it as motivation to protect others and advocate for safer practices every day.
His perspective, awareness, and willingness to act make a real difference in our facility. We are not only safer with Chris on our team; we are safer because of him.
