Great piece by Mark Hughes Cobb about Steve Davis and Sunheart Metal Works' latest public art work.

It begins:

"And if those visuals, with the new-park and green-space aromas weren't beckoning enough, Steve Davis' sculpted archway, with "wacky" athletic figures atop, suggests the joy and energy of a community rallying for not only improved safety at a once crime-troubled space... but improved space and equipment, restrooms, covered picnic areas and more."

You might not know Steve Davis, but you've probably seen the Northport artist's work all around Tuscaloosa.

Sunheart Metal Works will be represented in an invitational show, "The Land of the Free", at Lorrie Lane Studio.

13 artists will present 30 new works responding to our current times. Featured artists: Tiffany Amirkhanian, Jeremy Butler, Tori Christensen, Rachel Dobson, Sandee House, Lorrie Lane, Liz Lane, Kerry Leasure, Loretta Lynn, Scott McQueen, Casey Roberts, and Sherri Warner

Opening reception: Friday, March 7, 5-8pm, Tuscaloosa First Friday.

Location: Lorrie Lane Studio, 2420 Gary Fitts St (formerly 6th St), Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

The show will run through March, hours, 11-6 Mon-Friday, noon to 4 Saturday.
