UMass Amherst College Roads Department outfitted another truck today with a Legacy 750-gallon liquid sprayer.

UMass has done a great job adopting liquids into their winter operations, helping protect costly campus infrastructure while reducing overall chloride usage.

It’s always great working with teams that are committed to improving efficiency, protecting their properties, and taking a smarter approach to winter maintenance.

Charlestown DPW will be putting this newly redesigned LiquidTech 500-gallon sprayer to work for dust control this summer. When winter approaches, we’ll also be assisting them with implementing their first liquids program.

This is just one example of how liquid equipment can provide value beyond snow and ice control. Finding ways to utilize your equipment in the off-season helps maximize your investment and keep it working year-round.

At the beginning of October, we hosted our Second Annual Northeast De-Icing Field Day — and with 108 attendees from the contractor, municipal, and state level, this event has quickly become one of our favorite parts of the season.

Here’s a look at everything we packed into the day:

💧 Liquid De-Icing Presentation
Jordan Smith from BOSS Snowplow kicked things off with a deep dive into liquid de-icing best practices, equipment, and real-world application.

🎙️ Liquid Users Panel — Hosted by The SnowJobs Podcast
Contractors shared how they’re successfully using liquids on different scales — from sidewalks and pre-treating all the way up to large-scale industrial sites running liquids-only operations. This was one of our favorites, with tons of engaging discussion from attendees in the audience.

❄️ Live Edge Wing Plows
Storm Equipment walked attendees through the benefits, efficiencies, and real performance differences that live edge wing plows can provide compared to traditional snow-clearing equipment.

📄 Snow Insurance & Contract Language
Gaudette Insurance covered one of the most overlooked pieces of snow operations: protecting your company. Attendees took away key points on coverage, contracts, and reducing winter risk.

🧪 Live Brine Making + Equipment Demonstrations
We wrapped up the day with hands-on equipment demos, including brine production, application equipment, and infrastructure involved in running a successful liquids program.

🍻 After-Hours Networking
The conversations kept going well into the evening with light appetizers and a cocktail hour. These networking opportunities are always one of the best parts of any event.

We had a blast hosting everyone and are already planning how to make next year even bigger and better.
