The Maintenance Planner plans and schedules day-to-day maintenance activities, projects, parts ordering, outside services and contractors. This position anticipates and eliminates potential delays through planning, scheduling and coordinating maintenance resources, parts, and equipment access. The Maintenance Planner schedules maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and impact to production. The planner prepares daily work orders, parts availability inquiries, and project configuration. The Maintenance Planner will utilize SAP Maintenance and ensure the tools and parts needed to complete work orders are available. The planner works with the Parts Department to determine critical individual parts to balance maintenance needs and parts inventory levels.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Plan maintenance department work activities – Receives and prioritizes all maintenance work orders within SAP and works with Maintenance Manager to determine time and resources (internal/external) necessary to complete the work.
-Create, maintain, prioritize, and schedule preventive maintenance (PM’s).
-Coordinate with Maintenance Manager to ensure that maintenance duties are effectively executed.
-Coordinate with outside departments to schedule maintenance activities/projects/shutdowns related to facility and equipment.
-Provide forward looking schedule based on working capacity and work orders.
-Schedule external service technicians for in-house service calls and monitors through job completion, complete and manage all required permits for contractor activities, generate and process purchase requisitions for outside contractors, equipment repair and rebuilds.
-Collaborate with Maintenance Manager, team members, and other department supervisors to ensure necessary materials are available prior to job scheduling to allow for successful and timely completion of all work orders and repairs.
-Scope the full extent of maintenance work needed to conduct the relevant repair / preventive / predictive / capital activities on the organization’s plant and equipment.
-Prepare and issue reports.
-Determine work order start/completion dates; tracks overdue PM’s, backlog, work order age, and determines action plans as necessary
-Responsible for up-keep and accuracy of technical information on processes, plant, and equipment.
-Update asset management system and bills of material with asset attributes, such as make, model, other classifications.
-Recognize opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing them.
Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:
-Be at work, on time daily.
-Work safely.
-Minimum 3 years of experience in the following areas:
--Prior planner experience required or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable.
--Computerized maintenance management system experience (CMMS system like SAP Maintenance)
--Asset care strategies based on industry best practices and site and industry failure data.
--Maintenance cost and production loss data to identify performance gaps.
--Develop, execute, and manage multiple successful projects.
--Excellent root cause and corrective action problem solving.
-Computer skills with knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
-Possess the following skills:
--Excellent verbal and written skills.
--Self-motivated.
--Interpersonal skills.
--Be really good with the little details, thorough, precise.
-High School Diploma or GED
-Valid Driver’s License
