Took a walk through a few houses on the artisan parade of homes this weekend with my family. Beams everywhere. White oak flooring in literally all of the houses. Nicklegap is the king of T&G profiles right now. It was nice to see a fair bit more stained wood. Theres still alot of painted white wood, but there was a lot of rich stained wood too.

About a year ago I took the leap, left the corporate world and got into small business full time. I've never worked so hard in my life, or found the work to be so rewarding. One full time year in and I'm loving it.

How fast is 1 mph? Pretty darn fast when youre running T&G paneling through a widebelt sander. 5,440 lf done in 64 minutes (then sped up to 10 seconds). I love it when things are running smooth.

Love being a part of so many cool projects around Minnesota and Wisconsin. This thermally modified exterior looks awesome. Can't wait to do the interior. The customer wants no sheet rock in the entire home! Wall to wall, floor to ceiling wood.

Clear vertical grain is the highest grade of cedar. No knots, no cathedral style grain patterns. Its not cheap, but it sure is pretty.

There are lots of ways to look at our production output. The history in the shaving layers has stories to tell. Its fun to look back and remember jobs by the sawdust left behind. (Theres probably a good sermon in there somewhere)

Some days everything clicks, other days you make your beams too wide and dont notice until they are hanging on the ceiling. These are part of a truss assembly so that extra 1/4" makes a difference. We are ripping 2 kerf lines down the center of the beam then gluing it back together. Should look just fine after its reassembled and stained.
