The Phillips 66 | JA Discovery Center was designed to provide students across Southeast Texas with hands-on learning experiences focused on financial literacy, career readiness, entrepreneurship, and workforce development. The 40,000-square-foot facility features interactive classrooms, offices, and multipurpose spaces that connect education to real-world application.

We provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services to help bring this vision to life.

The facility supports immersive programs such as JA BizTown, JA Finance Park, and the JA Company Program, and is expected to serve approximately 32,000 students annually. Through thoughtful engineering and collaboration, the Phillips 66 | JA Discovery Center helps create an environment that inspires students and prepares them for future success.

That’s a wrap on Season 1 of The Coordination Conversation! 🎙️

Over the past year, our goal was to bring more than 70 years of consulting-engineering expertise to the microphone, turning complex design, compliance, and AEC industry trends into engaging conversations.

Our debut season tackled some of the industry's biggest shifts, from navigating A2L refrigerants and the 2021 energy codes to breaking down federal changes impacting green building programs and incentives. We also explored the evolution of project management from AutoCAD to Revit and unpacked common confusion points around Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERRC) systems.

A huge thank you to our Season 1 partners for helping power these conversations: Addison HVAC, Bartos Industries, Carrier Enterprise, CTC Software, and Johnson Controls.

We’re already hard at work on Season 2. Coming soon, we’ll be diving into the 2024 IECC and how it impacts design decisions across disciplines, the ongoing A2L transition and what it means for refrigerant routing, code compliance, and mechanical space planning, evolving equipment requirements — yes, closets! — microgrids and emerging power strategies, Revit 2027 and the risks facing legacy Revit 2021 projects, low-voltage coordination from IDF room HVAC loads to future-ready infrastructure, practical design strategies for HPWH installations, and perspectives from the young engineers helping shape the future of our industry.

Catch up on Season 1 below if you haven’t already, and be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss the Season 2 premiere:

Thank you to our engineering experts, guests (RCLA Landscape, Symetri USA) and production team (Tim Redman) for helping bring Season 2 to life.

We know the best way to save money, reduce risk, and enjoy what we do is to have The Coordination Conversation.
