For years, we've been working to make high-precision GNSS technology more accessible. What started as experiments within SparkX eventually grew into a family of products used by surveyors, researchers, farmers, and engineers around the world.

Today, we're excited to announce the next step in that journey: the official launch of Spark PNT!!!

SparkPNT is a new company dedicated to Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) products. While it operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SparkFun Electronics, it has been created as an independent organization focused specifically on professional-grade GNSS solutions. It's even got it's own shiny new website!

We've been getting some pretty intense storms here in Colorado. The SparkFun Lightning Detector adds lightning detection to your next weather station to make sure you are aware of any potential hazardous weather heading your way.

The AS3935 is capable of detecting lightning up to 40km away, with an accuracy of 1km to the storm front, using a sensitive antenna tuned to the 500kHz band.

Why Your USB Serial Data Looks Like Garbage (And How to Fix It)

When you’re wiring together fast embedded systems (like an ESP32 feeding data into a Teensy 4.1) it’s easy to assume USB will “just work.” After all, USB is fast. Way faster than UART, right?
